Jackson: God Has "Raised Up Herman Cain For This Day"

Here in an interesting fact:  when Herman Cain held his official presidential campaign launch event over the weekend, the invocation was delivered by none other than Harry Jackson, who declared that God has "raised up Herman Cain for this day" to restore "righteousness, justice, and truth" to America:

Heavenly Father, we thank you that you have raised up Herman Cain for this day. That you have appointed him for this hour as a spokesperson and representative of your agenda and of the values that America has always held dear.

And so out of the same passage, we pray for him and declare for Herman Cain: Arise! Shine! For thy light has come and the glory of the Lord has rise upon thee, Herman Cain.

And then we pray that his people will be willing in the day of his power, Lord, that you are going to give the people in this place a volunteer spirit. They're going to rise up. They're going to volunteer. They're going to give finances. They're going to begin to speak out passionately.

And at the end of the day, we are going to see that you are aligning a veritable army around this man, Herman Cain, because righteousness, justice, and truth need to be restored to America.

We pray and believe we receive these things for we have prayed in the name of Jesus. Amen.

And when Jackson is not declaring that God wants Herman Cain to be president, he is mentoring Bradlee Dean and warning that marriage equality is part of "a Satanic plot to destroy our seed."

Minnesota Republicans Invite Bradlee Dean To Deliver Opening Prayer

Andy Birkey of the Minnesota Independent reports that House Republicans invited ultra-right wing anti-gay, anti-Islam activist Bradlee Dean to deliver the morning prayer ... and it went about as well as one would expect:

Minnesota House Republicans invited anti-gay preacher Bradlee Dean of You Can Run But You Cannot Hide to give the morning prayer. The prayer was so offensive to many legislators that House leadership brought in the chaplain to redo the prayer.

Dean has made many controversial statements as pastor of You Can Run, including advocating the incarceration of gays and lesbians, that the LGBT community is trying to usher in Sharia law in Minnesota, that gay men molest an average of 117 children “before they get caught,” and that Muslim nations that execute gays are more moral than American Christians. His prayer on Friday touched off a firestorm at the Capitol as the LGBT community was rallying outside the House chambers against a proposed anti-gay marriage amendment.

Dean said during his prayer, “I know this is a nondenominational chamber,” he said listing off a litany of Christian denominations and leaving off any mention of Judaism.

Then he took a dig at President Obama, insinuating that he is not a Christian. “The head of the denomination is Jesus as every president up until 2008 has acknowledged, in Jesus name.”

Dean and his You Can Run But You Cannot Hide ministry has the support of Rep. Michele Bachmann and Religious Right leaders like Harry Jackson and Bryan Fischer.

UPDATE: Here is Dean's opening prayer:

Jackson: Gay Marriage Part of a "Satanic Plot" to Destroy the Family

Over the weekend, we stumbled upon this interview between Bradlee Dean of vehemently anti-gay You Can Run But You Cannot Hide Ministry and their mentor Harry Jackson discussing his fight against marriage equality in Washington, DC.

Dean and Jackson commiserated over the fact that both have been "persecuted for righteousness's sake" by "the wicked," with Jackson declaring that gay marriage is part of "a Satanic plot to destroy our seed":

Bachmann’s Favorite Ministry Joins Fischer to Link Gays to the Holocaust

Bryan Fischer’s appearance on Sons of Liberty, a Genesis Communication Network radio show, was filled with his characteristic rants about the purported ties between gays and Nazism, gays and the Obama Administration, and gays and "brainwashing" students in public schools. While such claims are nothing new coming from Fischer, the American Family Association’s Director of Issue Analysis, he was spewing out his anti-gay conspiracy theories on a radio program hosted by Bradlee Dean of the influential Minnesota ministry, “You Can Run But You Cannot Hide.”

Dean’s You Can Run has found supporters in Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann and the unsuccessful Republican candidate for governor Tom Emmer. Emmer’s campaign donated to the Ministry, and Bachmann even prayed to thank God about You Can Run “for how You are going to expand this radio program, how You are going to expand their video program, their publications, how You are going to advance them from 260 schools a year, Lord, to 2,600 schools a year.”

Fischer and Dean’s show was quite a meeting of the conspiratorial minds. Dean has claimed that Congressman Keith Ellison, a Muslim, is using gay rights to topple the Constitution and introduce Sharia law, and that executing gays is “moral.”

As Good As You notes, “Warning, Anti-Defamation League: You might want to hire some extra staff to handle this one.”

Listen to Fischer argue that “the dots are pretty easy to connect” between gays and the Holocaust and that Hitler himself was a “homosexual prostitute,” while Dean asks Fischer, “Are you aware of the fact that President Obama has a 147 appointed homosexuals in his Administration?”

Bachmann-Supported Group Claims Rep. Ellison Using Gays To Impose Sharia on US

This is audio of Rep. Michele Bachmann delivering a five minute prayer asking God to bless the Minnesota-based ministry known as You Can Run But You Cannot Hide:

Lord God, we feel you here. And we invite you, Lord, to be here in our midst this afternoon at You Can Run But You Cannot Hide ... Lord, I thank you for what you have done with this ministry. I thank you for how you are going to expand this radio program, how you are going to expand their video program, their publications, how you are going to advance them from 260 schools a year, Lord, to 2,600 schools a year.

Lord, we ask by faith that you would expand this ministry beyond anything that the originators of this ministry could being to think or imagine ... Lord, the day is at hand. We are in the last days. ... The day is at hand Lord when your return will come neigh ... This ministry, You Can Run But You Cannot Hide, they are not sidetracked, they are on course, they're way on course because they get it that that's what this is all about, to reach out and bring your people, the people you love, in the kingdom.

So God I just ask that you would add your might hand of blessing now on every person in this room, Would you bless every person in this room and this ministry. Would you bless them in deed greatly. Would you put your hand on them. Would you expand their ministry and their boundaries.

And this is Bradlee Dean, founder of You Can Run But You Cannot Hide, explaining how Rep. Keith Ellison supports gay rights as part of a plot to bring America under Sharia law

Bradlee Dean of the religious ministry You Can Run But You Cannot Hide International believes Rep. Keith Ellison’s support for LGBT rights is part of his strategy to bring Sharia law to the United States. On his radio show Saturday, Dean said that members of the LGBT community are fools for supporting Ellison and that he is “adamant about overthrowing the United States Constitution.”

...

“I said time and time again that there is a correlation between the Muslims and the homosexual agenda, and we have a couple of fools in the state of Minnesota that are putting a rope around their neck and they just don’t realize it,” said Dean [audio below]. “Here, let me give it to you this way: Keith Ellison is a Muslim.”

Dean said that Ellison’s support for protections for LGBT people from hate crimes and his support for same-sex marriage are attempts to overthrow the U.S. Constitution and implement Sharia law.

“Why is he so adamant about overthrowing the Constitution as it is right now… because if you pay attention to the plow he’s planting the seed,” Dean said. “He’s trying to come through with Sharee [sic] law.”

Raising his voice, he urged his listeners, “Does somebody want to talk to the homosexual community in the state of Minnesota and tell them what he is doing? Go online folks! You love the homosexuals so much then why don’t you tell them who they’ve appointed as their chairperson? He’s a Muslim!”

He continued, “Hello? Why is he after it? Because he wants to bring in Sharee [sic] law through the homosexual agenda!”

“They are using the homosexuals as a political battering ram to bring forth what? Sharee [sic] law.”

LGBT leaders in the United States are “ignorant,” Dean said, for allowing Ellison to serve as co-chair of the House LGBT Caucus.

“What is Keith up to? I think we have to ask the question, Keith,” said Dean. “I’m just asking the gay communities what’s up with Keith Ellison because they are so foolish, blind and stupid not to figure out that their vice chair is a Muslim. This is no hidden secret, folks. This is in America. Who is this guy working for?”

“Why is this guy advocating the overthrow of the United States Constitution in the state of Minnesota?”

...

He continued, “That’s how foolish these homosexuals are in Minnesota. God is not mocked. You can’t spit against heaven and not expect to fall upon your own back. And that’s exactly what’s happening to those that want to play the devil’s advocate.”

Bradlee Dean, whose close ties to Rep. Fresh after losing his lawsuit against Rachel Maddow and facing an order to pay her legal fees, rocker and right-wing activist Bradlee Dean spoke to talk show host Steve Deace this week, where Dean alleged that God is judging America for the crimes of an immoral minority and that “less than 1.7 percent of the people are the ones that are responsible for all the bad things going on in this country.” Dean did not say who constitutes the 1.7 percent, but he may be referring to a survey finding that 1.7 percent of Americans identify as gay or lesbian.
