The Radiance Foundation, the group which consistently propagates the widely discredited smear that Planned Parenthood is using legal abortion to exterminate African Americans, is using Martin Luther King, Jr. Day to make it appear that King would oppose abortion rights:
What the group fails to mention, besides the actual reasons abortion rate is higher in the African American community, is that King received the Margaret Sanger award from Planned Parenthood in 1966 and the civil rights leader, who called the award “among my most cherished possessions,” praised the organization... No matter how many times the deceitful claim that abortion providers are systematically targeting the black community for genocide is repudiated, new anti-choice groups can’t seem to stop running more ‘black genocide’ billboard campaigns. In March, a group called Life Always notoriously used images of President Barack Obama and a young black girl in their billboard campaign that abortion is black genocide. A coalition of groups opposed to abortion rights wants the government to place graphic warning labels on emergency contraceptives and abortion clinics in the same way cigarette packs are now required to display explicit images. Religious Right groups are launching another billboard campaign against Planned Parenthood for allegedly committing genocide against the African American community. Following billboards featuring Barack Obama and a young black girl reading "The Most Dangerous Place For An African American Is In the Womb," anti-choice organization are out with a new billboard accusing Planned Parenthood of targeting the black community for extermination. The leadership of the latest California billboard campaign even likened the work of the women's health group to the ongoing genocide in Darfur:
