James Dobson is offended that anybody took offense at his hyper-partisan National Day of Prayer speech last month, and feels that he was slighted not only by a Democratic congresswoman who walked out during his address but also by Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly, whom he is accusing of “disrespectful” treatment. Writing in his June newsletter, the Focus on the Family founder calls President Obama the “anti-religious freedom president” and suggests that he is the first president to propose federal funding to Planned Parenthood. In reality, Planned Parenthood has... MORE >

Why should anyone be surprised that the National Day of Prayer, led by right-wing activist Shirley Dobson, turned into an anti-Obama event? Dobson promoted the event by warning that America “is being invaded by evils such as pornography, abortion, infidelity, same-sex marriage and the agenda of the far Left,” and invited Jonathan Cahn, who believes that President Obama’s re-election and marriage equality are signs of the End Times, to be the event’s keynote speaker. Immediately after James Dobson, the Focus on the Family founder and Shirley’s husband, framed the... MORE >

A week after President Obama won re-election, James Dobson on Family Talk said that his wife Shirley and her colleague John Bornschein used the National Day of Prayer Task Force to actively pray for Obama’s defeat. The National Day of Prayer Task Force never did a good job pretending to be nonpartisan, but Dobson’s admission made its far-right bias all too clear. Of course, with the ‘National Day of Prayer’ scheduled for May 2, we now get to hear Shirley Dobson, who leads the task force, complain during an interview with Janet Parshall yesterday that Obama is not... James Dobson Gives Away the Game, Admits the National Day of Prayer Task Force Prayed for Obama's Defeat

Focus on the Family founder James Dobson, now the host of Family Talk, admitted on his radio program today that the National Day of Prayer Task Force, chaired by his wife Shirley Dobson, were praying for Obama to be defeated on Election Day. Religious Right activists have lambasted Obama with false smears that he had “cancelled” the National Day of Prayer and defended the event as “not politically inclined,” even though it regularly hosted anti-Obama speakers like David Jeremiah and Harry Jackson and both Dobsons are closely tied to the GOP. But during an interview... MORE >

On a daily basis, it seems, new endorsers are being added to website for Gov. Rick Perry's "The Response" prayer rally. Today, the website unveiled a new "What Others are Saying" page that features Governor Paul LePage of Maine: In addition, the page also features radio ads promoting the event recorded by James and Shirley Dobson: Hello everyone, I'm Shirley Dobson, Chairman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force. And I'd like to invite you to a day of prayer and fasting for America on August 6th at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas. Our country is in crisis, but... MORE >

Today, James Dobson dedicated his radio program to discussing the upcoming National Day of Prayer. His guests included his wife Shirley, who is Chair of the National Day of Prayer Task Force, and John Bornschein, who is the organization's Executive Director. During the program, Dobson and Bornschein remarked on last week's ruling by the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals that the National Day of Prayer is constitutional as proof God answered their prayers when the Day of Prayer came under attack from "the forces of Hell": Dobson: We've already had an incredible answered... Franklin Graham continues to milk his "victimhood" for all it is worth: "I think it is waking people up across this land," said evangelist Franklin Graham, the honorary chairman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force, who was disinvited from Pentagon observances because of his remarks on Islam. "I think people realize, many Christians, how we're losing our religious freedoms a little bit every day and if we don't stand up and exercise the freedoms that God has given us in this country, we will lose them." ... In his keynote address at the Cannon House Office... MORE >
