On the same day that an ex-gay activist who writes for the Christian Post was caught using a gay “dating” site, Linda Harvey of Mission America raved about a new book on ex-gay therapy during her radio alert today. Harvey encouraged listeners to read A Young Man’s Journey: Healing for Young Men with Unwanted Homosexual Feelings by ex-gay activist Floyd Godfrey. Godfrey calls A Young Man’s Journey a “workbook written for young men who want to understand the emotional needs and wounds which generate homosexual feelings” that provides “goals and healing activities” and cites ex-gay favorites like Joseph Nicolosi, Richard Cohen, Joe Dallas and Arthur Goldberg.

Harvey said she learned from the book that gay people’s “same-sex desires diminish” once they deal “with envy, grudge-holding and other sinful attitudes,” and gays will eventually develop “attractions to women.” She said that the book helped young readers who contemplated suicide and alienation.

What Floyd [Godfrey] writes makes practical as well as spiritual sense. He suffered from intense envy and admiration of other boys and wanted to be like them but felt different and inferior. As he hit puberty this envy took on a sexual dimension but it was the longing for a close, affirming male friendship that was at the root of these desires. Floyd knew he did not want to go down the road of homosexuality. His faith in Christ prompted him to keep praying for a change in his feelings but that change did not happen until he went to a conference of others who had overcome these desires. It was a major turning point, what he learned put him on the path toward healing of the many other issues that he believes God wanted him to recognize. Repentance and then transformation began to take place in Floyd’s life and as he dealt with envy, grudge-holding and other sinful attitudes, the same-sex desires diminished and he began to feel something entirely unexpected: attractions to women.

Listen to some of the comments from boys who’ve read this book. Kyle, age 15, says: ‘This book makes so much sense. I can see myself in so many of the examples. I wanted to hurt myself before, I used to hate who I was, I thought about suicide, now I feel hope, I think I can do it, I’m starting to like who I am.’ Skyler, age 17, says: ‘It was so comforting to know other guys have felt this way and to know I’m not alone. It’s given me a voice to things I couldn’t put into words. It’s really been helping, after trying to do the things in the book I’m now dating and love it!’

On her daily radio commentary yesterday, Linda Harvey offered a rather interesting theory about why the Fourteenth Amendment's guarantee of "equal protection of the laws" shouldn't apply to marriage equality - or seemingly to gay people at all, for that matter - since "people are not naturally homosexual."

Apparently, being a "gay person" doesn't actually qualify one as a "person" under Harvey's understanding of the Fourteenth Amendment:

Why should the equal protection argument be made in favor of homosexual behavior, which is changeable?  People are not naturally homosexual, so the definition of "person" in the Fourteenth Amendment is being twisted to make this assumption.

"Person" should be understood based on historic, beneficial, or at least neutral and fact-based traits; it should not be twisted to incorporate behavior that most religions and most cultures have said a firm "no" to. 

It's also behavior for which there's no recognized science demonstrating a genetic or hormonal origin.  And it's also not beneficial and does not stand the definition of marriage, used for millenia - that is, the act of consummation. It's another sad fact of homosexual behavior that two men or two women can never consummate a marriage; they can never conceive children together. 

This should still have some standing and it remains a fact that there are only two types of human in the world: male and female.  Any other distinctions made are appearance, custom, and construction.  So marriage is the lawful, orderly confirmation of what we already see in nature.

The Supreme Court says they will give their decision in June.  Pray, friends, for truth to prevail.

Anti-gay activist Linda Harvey of Mission America on her radio show this weekend decried a recent LGBT youth conference, PrideWorks, in Westchester, New York, which she said is part of an effort to corrupt children with “pro-homosexual, graphic, explicit, distorted and bizarre information.” “It’s a huge lie from the pit of hell,” Harvey said, insisting that it is “heartbreaking” about how gay rights supporters “are leading our children into sin” and effectively “killing our children.”

The homosexual movement is pitching their movement to our kids. They for some reason are very anxious to sell our children on this. I think part of it is they believe this is the future of their movement if they sell people with misinformation, which is what it largely is at this point, and put conservative values on the defensive, then they will turn a whole generation around. And they are doing it because the hearts of the fathers are not where they need to be, we need to be getting in there and fighting for the truth for our kids. We need to be horrified that busloads of middle schoolers, for instance, are taken to an all-day program in Westchester County, New York sponsored by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network and hear an entire day that they take off school and the school sponsors this of pro-homosexual, graphic, explicit, distorted and bizarre information and it’s government sponsored now.

It’s a huge lie from the pit of hell, folks. We need to tell our children the truth, all of our children, the ones who are so sadly distorting themselves at this point in their lives; they’ve listened to these lies. They are not being told anything about another side, another beautiful, positive, life-enhancing, life-prolonging side and that’s traditional values. It’s not hateful; it is being misportrayed by those who are desperate to hang on to their sin and want to drag children, contrary to what Jesus wanted people to do with children, to drag children into it with them.

We are killing our children, we’re killing their hearts, their spirits, their sensitivity to other people, we are giving them the tools to make it highly likely they will never have a happy, productive marriage in the future if they are already so hardened in their hearts to the beautiful, God-designed function of their bodies. This is heartbreaking, this is absolutely heartbreaking, I get choked up every time I think about how we are leading our children into sin. Jesus said do not lead little ones into sin, and why are we doing this? Why are we not out there fighting for our kids? I urge you to search your hearts and find a way to find it in your time to make a call, make a call on the Heartbeat Bill, make a call to your school and your school board president and make sure they are not allowing pro-homosexual programs in their schools.

Linda Harvey of Mission America this weekend interviewed Mark Harrington, the anti-choice activist previously with the Center for Bio-Ethical Reform and now with CreatedEqual, to discuss how Obama won re-election while at the same time arguing that the majority of Americans oppose reproductive rights. They argued that Romney would’ve won if voters made abortion their top voting priority, even though exit polls found that 59% of voters said abortion should be legal in all or most cases. Harvey and Harrington eventually concluded that people who supported Obama and the ‘Democrat party’ no longer have a “functioning conscience” and were simply inviting God’s wrath upon themselves and America at large:

Harrington: We have passed over this line when it comes to people having a functioning conscience. We may have passed to a place that maybe we won’t see returning, at least for a generation, at least that’s the way I see it.

Harvey: I think, yeah. You look at this and you say: what kind of wrath are you calling down on yourselves with that? God help you. This is so heart hardened and so cruel, these are human beings and you’re saying ‘hey, it’s fine.’

Harrington: The Democrat party, their party platform this year was brazen by taking out God and then putting it back in and have people boo, taking the ‘safe, legal and rare’ out of the abortion plank and then the rejection of Israel and Jerusalem as its capital, then the support for homosexual marriage. This is a change, now it’s overt. It’s no longer, ‘we support these things kind of in the background.’ Now it’s front and center, it’s who we are. When you put Cecile Richards of Planned Parenthood at your Democrat National Convention as one of the main speakers, we have reached a different place in the Democrat party.

Harvey: And God is not ignoring all this.

Harrington: No, He’s not.

Harvey: He lives and He has been patient with us and I just shudder for our whole nation. It’s not just these people that support that, everybody is going to reap some of this.

Mission America head Linda Harvey is stunned that President Obama received an overwhelming percentage of the African American vote, and is now arguing that African American Christians cannot support Obama while believing in “the Lord’s vision of life and truth.” She says that black voters chose not to “choose candidates based on the content of his or her character” or “open their eyes” about Obama and instead were “swayed by race,” even though he has “insulted our Lord, our values and our faith.”

Ninety-three percent of African Americans voted for Obama in this election. Where are the Christians? Where are those who choose candidates based on the content of his or her character? Is it safe to conclude that ninety-three percent of African Americans are now in favor of homosexuality as marriage, late-term and sex-selection abortions, and they love the idea of limiting opportunity be penalizing success in this country? Do all this ninety-three percent agree that people of faith should be forced to pay for other people’s abortion-causing drugs? These are drugs that kill unborn babies. This is a human rights issue of the first magnitude and I am guessing there are plenty of black women and men who would have a problem with this if they chose to open their eyes about these policies aggressively supported by Obama and his administration, and now America has signed on for four more years of this. I even think there are college girls whose hearts would break if they faced this truth.

But no, here’s how this happens: Obama is a guy people want to believe, some people are swayed by race, giving him the benefit of the doubt; some find it impossible to accept the jaw-dropping reality about his actions though. He has insulted our Lord, our values and our faith in ways too numerous to mention. But folks decide which camp they want to be in: the cool camp, the one with the hip president who likes big government programs and nods at sexual sin, even if great harm comes to children as a result. No, for some people, first they choose their camp and then they try to figure out ways to justify it. We are drowning in our greed, financially, sexually, and in so many ways. It’s time for us to all get serious and be courageous. We must pray for these leaders but let’s never forget which camp we belong in, it’s the one with the Lord’s vision of life and truth.

After urging parents to withdraw their children from schools which have bullying-prevention programs that cover anti-LGBT bullying, Linda Harvey of Mission America is now telling parents to consider keeping their children from any school with any LGBT-inclusive policy at all. Harvey on her radio commentary discussed the case of an Illinois school board that rescinded a measure, which had been approved with unanimous support, to ensure the safety of transgender students. While that board repealed their policy, Harvey warned that more schools “are starting to buy in to the monstrous idea that some children should be supported as they try to flip their biological genders,” who she said “need compassion and help, not a stamp of approval.” “These children need help, not an open door into this lifestyle,” Harvey claimed, and she went on to say that parents should look into removing their children from schools with transgender-inclusive policies and transgender teachers in order to “protect their children and if needed move them to an environment where they won’t be subjected to outright lies and corruption.” 

Most of you are aware by now of the push to get our kids to accept homosexuality in our schools, in the media and even in some sadly misguided churches. But are you aware of how rapidly another agenda is moving in right behind this one? I’m talking about transgenderism, you know, boys dressing as girls, calling themselves by girls’ names, and vice versa. Amazingly, public school educators are starting to buy in to the monstrous idea that some children should be supported as they try to flip their biological genders. Instead of enabling this disordered behavior, we should be standing strong against such conduct and making it clear to all students that this is a path they do not want to travel. These kids need compassion and help, not a stamp of approval.

It’s truly sad when there are students are so confused and troubled enough that they want to challenge the very basis of their biology and anatomy, their genders. These children need help, not an open door into this lifestyle. But the homosexual lobby and the big teachers unions have convinced a growing number of educators that there is nothing wrong with this, in some schools there are even teachers who themselves are transvestites or who have had gender-change surgery. It’s troubling when people who so easily waffle on basic ethical questions are in charge of our children’s education. When moral anarchy threatens to become the new normal, it’s up to parents to protect their children and if needed move them to an environment where they won’t be subjected to outright lies and corruption. These bizarre trends will only end if we speak out where we can and vote in new leadership where needed in these tax-funded schools. Please pray friends about what God would have you do if this comes up in your community.

Linda Harvey of Mission America is still incensed by California’s new law preventing minors from undergoing pseudo-scientific sexual orientation conversion therapy, and on her radio show this weekend she called it a “fascist” law that is “banning heterosexuality.” She suggested that parents and counselors work to break the law, which she said would be more loving to gay or lesbian youth.

This SB 1172, passed in California, signed by Governor Jerry Brown, bans all counseling that would reduce or eliminate same-sex attractions and especially they ban this for minor who are people under the age of eighteen. So that means that parents, if you have a child who has come to you and said they have same-sex attractions and they think they are gay, and many kids with all the propaganda that is very one-sided are believing that the were born that way if they feel that way, but it’s the blessed parent who at least gets a chance to counsel them differently. Hopefully your response will be one that is, ‘I love you no matter what but this is wrong,’ so the two things at the same time, ‘but I will help you to find the counseling you need.’ California is basically banning heterosexuality. So for these children, if a child has been persuaded that they are born this way, that they have same-sex attractions, and you as a parent want to take them to a counselor, no licensed, professional counselor in the state of California is now going to be able—unless they break the law. Perhaps some of them will have a conscience on this and think differently and think that maybe their responsibility to their client on this as in other areas of counseling and that the client might want to have a choice in the matter as they do in other areas of counseling, they’re not supposed to counsel anything but ‘oh no, homosexuality, you must embrace that.’ It’s so anti-choice, it’s so rigid, it’s so fascist, this is just the same old stuff you get from the supposedly tolerant folks, tolerance is actually intolerance, inclusivity is actually exclusivity.

She also argued that the resounding criticism of ex-gay therapy by the country’s major medical and counseling organizations is “baloney” because she knows “tons of ex-homosexuals.” According to Harvey, the only reason such counseling doesn’t work for some people is that the clients simply aren’t working hard enough to change their sexual orientation because they think it is “too tough.”

Harvey later lamented that school counselors in California will not tell gay and lesbian students to change their orientation, warning of “child endangerment and child corruption” along with “educational malpractice” and “psychological malpractice” in California schools.

‘There’s no such thing as change.’ That’s baloney. I know tons of ex-homosexuals and people that have been ex-homosexuals for twenty years or more, I know ex-transgender people. The fact that a few people try it and it doesn’t work or they give up doesn’t mean it doesn’t work for some people, and that’s true of all counseling. How many people do you know who throw their hands in the air and say ‘oh this is too tough’ and they are just more comfortable where they are even if it’s painful. That is human nature, that is what people do all the time, so it is not going to be any different in counseling. Think about school counselors, every single high school and middle school have counselors on site, in California if a child confidentially comes to them and says ‘I’m struggling with—I think I might be homosexual,’ this person is going to have to say, ‘great, then you’re born that way.’ This is child endangerment and child corruption and I think it is educational malpractice, it’s certainly psychiatric malpractice.

Expounding on her belief that feminism is a pagan philosophy that promotes witchcraft and is “destructive to the church,” Linda Harvey of Mission America told listeners yesterday that feminism is trying to “disguise” their “sexual permissiveness agenda” as “concern about harming women” and “human rights.” She argued that feminists and their allies in the Democratic Party “are the ones truly making a war on women” by opposing the criminalization of abortion. She added that “homosexuality, wasteful government spending, dependency on welfare, our weak national defense and many of the other items the Democratic Party proudly stands for” also harm women, and that “every liberal woman” is at war with God’s design.

Harvey: Anyone who is genuinely objective cannot miss the fact that life does indeed begin at conception and that true human equality should make us value all human life from that time forward. Those who don’t don’t really have a human rights agenda, they have a sexual permissiveness agenda, that is the actual priority of most feminists even as they try to disguise it as concern about harming women. It’s another lie. The Democrats are the ones truly making a war on women, right from targeting and killing babies in the womb, female and male, abortion hurts women. So by the way does homosexuality, wasteful government spending, dependency on welfare, our weak national defense and many of the other items the Democratic Party proudly stands for. Back when I was a feminist there was a war going on, but it was me, a war with myself and with how God created me, and that in my opinion is what is taking place in the hart, mind and soul of every liberal woman.

Mission America’s Linda Harvey hosted Robert Knight of the American Civil Rights Union this weekend and expressed her dismay that the Jewish community in the U.S. is not rallying en masse against President Obama, as polls show that Obama has a commanding lead among Jewish voters, and that she has even met Jews in Israel who favor Obama. Knight explained Jewish support for Obama by arguing that he is merely winning the backing of secular Jews, pointing to his former chief of staff Rahm Emmanuel who he said “is Jewish himself but he is secular Jewish” (both Emmanuel and Obama’s current chief of staff Jack Lew are Orthodox Jews). "Liberal politics is the religion, that’s the mindset, that’s the values world that they live in,” Knight claimed, and Harvey added that “Judaism for those folks who are secularists are just an identifier, kind of tribal, but in so many ways they just don’t get it.

Harvey: There is so much of a legacy of traditional liberal values lining up with pretty much secular Jews and that’s true in the US too, and their eyes are being opened, don’t you think?

Knight: I do, I think when the election rolls around we’ll see a record percentage of Jewish votes for the Republican candidate. Not that they love Mitt Romney but I think that they fear Barack Obama and they’ve seen him in any number of ways signal to Israel that he’s not their friend. It’s kind of funny because of his chief of staff used to be Rahm Emmanuel who is Jewish himself but he is secular Jewish, his family wasn’t but he is. Apparently, liberal politics is the religion, that’s the mindset, that’s the values world that they live in.

Harvey: Judaism for those folks who are secularists are just an identifier, kind of tribal, but in so many ways they just don’t get it. But they’re starting to I think so many folks are waking up and are starting to understand that this man is no friend to Israel and will betray you.

Harvey, who earlier argued that Obama “bends over backwards for Islam while sticking it to Christians time and again,” asserted that liberals are now aiding advocates of Sharia law, which Knight said is because both groups “hate America” and are “trying to destroy Judeo-Christian America.”

Harvey: Anybody who is an apologist for Islam is no friend to liberalism, either, I find myself looking at these strange bedfellows of all the left who are such apologists for the repressive values of people that advocate Sharia.

Knight: It’s a weird alliance…what they have in common is the liberal left hates America and the Islamists hate America and they have common cause, trying to destroy Judeo-Christian America, that is the main enemy.
