On today's "Faith and Freedom" radio broadcast, Matt Barber said that it is "little wonder that so many women are walking around taking anti-depressants" since they must feel guilty over having had an abortion. On an episode entitled "Abortion is The Real War on Women," Barber said that 40% of women of childbearing age in America have had an abortion and alleged that they are all carrying "the burden and the guilt" of having done so and so "they have a void, an emptiness now" that is exacerbated by the upcoming Mother's Day holiday.... Speaking on a Tea Party Unity conference call last week, Liberty Counsel’s Matt Barber predicted that the U.S. is “five, six years at the most” away from enacting unconstitutional hate-speech laws and claimed that President Obama was “testing the waters” for such laws when he criticized LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling’s racist comments. Discussing anti-gay activist Peter LaBarbera’s recent detention in Canada, Barber claimed that the U.S. is at most six years away from enacting hate-speech bans, which he claimed are “already happening... The anti-gay group Liberty Counsel is afraid that it will “soon be taboo to be heterosexual in America.” Will it soon be taboo to be heterosexual in America? Vote for #promarriage http://t.co/Gow6l6EIJx — Liberty Counsel (@libertycounsel) April 23, 2014 The article the group links to concerns recent elections for central committee posts in the Illinois Republican Party where “six of the seven officials who signed on to a letter last year to hold a vote on removing [Pat] Brady as chairman” over “his statements supporting same-sex marriage” lost... Earlier this month, after Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich resigned amid outrage over his support for California's Proposition 8 anti-gay marriage effort in 2008, Will Saletan wrote a satirical column about the controversy on Slate called "Purge The Bigots" in which he sarcastically called upon activists to start targeting every one of the 35,000 people who donated to Prop. 8 in order to get them fired from their jobs as well. On Friday night, Matt Barber posted his weekly column, first on WorldNetDaily but it was soon reposted on various right-wing websites, which was based entirely on... MORE >

If a gay rights supporter were to launch a petition demanding that a publishing house drop its publication of a book opposing marriage equality, you could imagine that Liberty Counsel’s Matt Barber would be the first to accuse the “intolerant” “homofascists” of trying to “shut down debate.” Barber, after all, has denounced the Southern Poverty Law Center’s decision to classify some anti-gay groups as “hate groups,” accusing them of an “Orwellian censorship crusade”; dubbed the campaign to pressure advertisers to end their... There are few issues that as clearly highlight the Religious Right's undisguised bigotry quite like transgender equality as it is a topic that people like Matt Barber and Mat Staver can't even discuss except with sneering contempt, as they did on today's "Faith and Freedom" radio broadcast. Barber and Staver are disgusted by the fact that the Office of Personnel Management has issued guidelines (dating back to 2011) "Regarding the Employment of Transgender Individuals in the Federal Workplace," which Barber said is nothing more than a full-scale "War on... Mat Staver recently appeared on the "Light of the Southwest" Christian television program on God's Learning Channel where he warned, yet again, that America is headed toward a second American Revolution led by conservative Christians over the issues of gay marriage, abortion, and religious liberty. "We're seeing the beginning groundswell of a potential new American Revolution," Staver said, asserting that if the government continues to trample on religious liberty, the nation will soon "run into that decision point of persecution and/or revolution."... Matt Barber and Steve Crampton began today's "Faith and Freedom" radio broadcast by attacking Rep. Nancy Pelosi for accepting the Margaret Sanger Award from Planned Parenthood last month, but the discussion quickly got sidetracked into criticism of efforts to outlaw the use of "ex-gay" reparative therapy on minors, with Crampton comparing it to efforts by mental health professionals to promote eugenics in the early 1900s in order to sterilize and eliminate "undesirables": And the side to the whole eugenics movement that I think still underlies the abortion...
