Scott Lively says that God recently gave him a prophecy that He "would soon use me to lead some homosexuals to Him" and so it seemed like a good time for him to write an open letter to the gay community explaining his history and motivation:
I am Pastor Scott Lively and it has been my mission for 25 years to work against the “gay” agenda. I am probably one of your best-known opponents in this world. Amongst the many hate-mail messages I receive are the occasional sincere requests to explain my motivation. I believe the time has come to do that.
On March 8th of this year... MORE >

In the second part of the televised interview on The Daily Show, David Barton claims that the Constitution contains “four references to God” in Article VII. Article VII reads: “The Ratification of the Conventions of nine States, shall be sufficient for the Establishment of this Constitution between the States so ratifying the Same.”
That’s it.
Barton is presumably referring to the following line: “Done in Convention by the... MORE >

Google Chrome featured the anti-bullying “It Gets Better Project” in its new ad, and now the ex-gay ministry Exodus International is outraged. Alan Chambers, the president of Exodus, is upset that Woody from Toy Story is featured in Google’s ad sending an anti-suicide message to bullied LGBT youth, with Woody saying, “you’ll be fine, partner.” Chambers condemns the ad, which also includes stories from celebrities, a police officer and gay parents, in The Christian Post, saying that the answer to anti-gay bullying is for gay youth to become “ex-gays... On Monday, Focus on the Family kicked off their first Day of Dialogue, which replaced the Day of Truth that had been sponsored by the “ex-gay” group Exodus International. Brad Clark, the executive director of One Colorado, wrote an open letter to Focus on the Family calling for them to work towards building “a true dialogue about what it means to be LGBT—instead of encouraging young people to spread harmful rhetoric to vulnerable youth in our schools.”
Focus on the Family has consistently claimed that anti-bullying programs send students a “homosexual... MORE >

A few weeks ago, Bryan Fischer wrote a post declaring that any Muslim "who wants to become an American had best be prepared to drop his Islam and his Qur’an at Ellis Island" and convert to Christianity.
That was too much for the American Family Association, which pulled down Fischer's post and changed it to remove all of Fischer's demands for conversion.
But, as we pointed out, just because the AFA changed Fischer's post, that didn't mean that Fischer doesn't really believe that Muslims ought to be forced to convert to Christianity if they want to become Americans,... MORE >

While the American Family Association and Liberty Counsel are calling on parents to prevent their children from attending school today and Concerned Women for America is encouraging a “Day of Silence Walk Out,” other Religious Right groups are trying to add anti-gay “balance” to today’s Day of Silence. Focus on the Family’s Day of Dialogue, which will take place on Monday in order to directly follow the Day of Silence, wants to help students they believe are “messed up sexually.” The “Day of Dialogue” is the successor to the ex-gay... WorldNetDaily’s Molotov Mitchell is out with a new video decrying the right-wing’s traditional method of attacking Sharia law. Mitchell points out some blatant hypocrisy among conservatives, as many of the draconian rules found in Islamic law are also found in the Bible, which many Republicans want to use to craft civil law. But as a self-proclaimed “zealot,” don’t expect Mitchell to make a case for classical liberalism or secular government.
Instead, Mitchell argues that the government should impose laws according to the Bible. According to Mitchell’s view... MORE >

Bishop E.W. Jackson, the head of STAND for America (Staying True to America’s National Destiny), is filing paperwork to run for Virginia’s open seat in the US Senate and will face former Senator George Allen and numerous tea party activists in the contested Republican primary. Jackson has likened Democrats to slaveholders and called them the “coalition of the godless,” and has said his mission in politics is to convince African Americans to leave the Democratic Party and join the tea party. As an ally of far-right activists like Rick Scarborough and Janet Porter, it is... MORE >
