As Iowa State Director for the Ron Paul presidential campaign Mike Heath claims to have visited close to three hundred houses of worship on Paul’s behalf, more evidence of Heath’s rabidly anti-gay background while a Religious Right activist in Maine is coming to light. Before Maine’s marriage equality law was repealed, Heath contended that the legalization of same-sex marriage led to bad weather because “our elected officials overturned a law of nature, and in its place paid honor to evil and unnatural practices,” and Warren Throckmorton, who first uncovered that Paul was boasting about an endorsement from a pastor who advocates for the death penalty for gays and lesbians, notes that Heath was also the Board Chairman of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality, one of the most fringe and virulently anti-gay groups in the country.

In Maine, Heath urged the legislature to re-criminalize homosexuality, saying it would “be prudent to reinstate Maine’s anti-sodomy law,” and worked to overturn the state’s marriage equality law, declaring, “Homosexuality has absolutely nothing to do with marriage. Homosexuality is a sickness.”

In an interview with AFTAH president Peter LaBarbera last year, Heath said that homosexuality is not only “inconsistent with the Word of God but it’s inconsistent with biology and common sense,” and that “there is only one position on homosexuality and it’s the one that we take”:

He also alleged that homosexuality will “erode the strength of our nation”:

Heath even claimed that gay rights is “evil” and “nutty,” writing that the “‘gay’ ideology is going to go the way of the Berlin wall” and pledging, “I want Maine to be the place where the ‘gay’ wall starts to crumble.” Heath said that he intends to “take back” the rainbow flag from gay right advocates, saying: “God gave us the rainbow long before the sexual disorientation mob stole it. The rainbow reminds us of His mercy. He will never destroy the world again with a flood. Let's just the tell the loud mouth ‘gays’ that the Rainbow flag belongs to us now. It is a symbol of God's judgment that will fall on them if they persist in their sinful ways”:

Years ago we said the "gays" were going to go after the children. Everyone laughed thinking we were nuts.

In August the Maine Supreme Court perverted a nineteenth-century definition of adoption. They unanimously ruled that nineteenth century Mainers imagined homosexual adoption and allowed for it in their definition. Maine state government is now placing kids in "queer" homes through both the foster care and adoption systems.

There was never legislative approval for any of this, I don't believe. It was all created by unelected Judges and bureaucrats. The entire Middle School System in Maine is now moving toward the provision of prescription contraceptives to 11 year old girls without parental knowledge. Don't think that the King Middle School incident is the end of the story. No way. That is just the beginning. The only thing that will turn that around is a lawsuit that may be filed this Friday. The people of Portland, Christians especially, don't care enough to do ANYTHING. So, guess what. The political and cultural pressure is going to grow and grow. The tyranny of "gay" ideology has already silenced the church of Portland. It is only a matter of time before the cancer spreads throughout Maine.

You think John the Baptist is the only one in history to be silenced by a tyrant? It happens all the time. It isn't supposed to happen here. It is, however, already happening because Christians voluntarily silence themselves. Portland, our largest and most influential city, is leading the way. In the early nineties I compared Portland to Sodom. Little did I know.

While the front line of this war seems to be the schools the front line is actually the heart of every Christian in Maine. The front line is not the mind of the Christian. We already know the difference between right and wrong. The front line is our hearts. Do we care? Do we have the courage to do something about it?

Taxpayers are funding re-education groups called Civil Rights Teams in most of Maine's public schools. These communist-lite groups intimidate Christian faculty and students into silence about sexual immorality in the name of "civil rights." It is insane, and it is working. Evil is like that.

If we care more about our dogs and cats than our God-given obligation to raise our children and grandchildren up in the way they should go then God must be thinking about vocal chords for rocks.

You might conclude that I am not hopeful about Maine's future. Nothing could be further from the truth. This "gay" ideology is going to go the way of the Berlin wall. It is only a matter of time. It can't come soon enough for me. One person told me the backlash would come in five or ten years. As far as I'm concerned the backlash is going on right now. I'll never give in to these people, these evil ideas. Most Mainers feel the same way I do. They are going to speak. They are going to react. It is only a matter of time. Only a sad and pathetic minority embraces these nutty ideas about sex.

I want Maine to be the place where the "gay" wall starts to crumble. How about you? Lets take the word "gay" back from them. How about the rainbow? Lets take that back also.

The Maranacook Community School in Readfield has a rainbow flag hanging in their lobby. It was placed there by the school's noisy and pathetic "gay" rights student group. Rather than ask that a Christian flag be placed next to it, how about we just take the rainbow back. God gave us the rainbow long before the sexual disorientation mob stole it. While looking back on a year that saw the official end of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell and the arrival of marriage equality in New York, Americans For Truth About Homosexuality’s Peter LaBarbera didn’t have much reason to celebrate. LaBarbera in his end of the year message condemned the triumph of “organized evil” and “homosexuality-embracing conservatives” in particular, who he claims are helping gays and lesbians drag “America into a cultural pit” and who are even more harmful “to the cause of Truth than a thousand burly men in high heels strutting down Main Street.” He went on to lash out against President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for advocating for equal rights for LGBT people abroad, saying they are “spitting in God’s eye,” and mourned that the “‘gay’ marketing campaign to redefine sexual perversion as a civil right is in one of the most spectacularly successful anti-God movements in human history.”

As whacked and dysfunctional as Gay Pride Parades are, high-profile “conservatives” and Christians who help mainstream homosexuality (read: “gay/lesbian/trans” identities) do more damage to the cause of Truth than a thousand burly men in high heels strutting down Main Street. These “conservatives” need to get back to the Real Jesus and to critiquing the Kinsey-ite Sexual Revolution that is dragging America into the cultural pit.

But if homosexuality-embracing conservatives operating in the mostly secular world of politics and media do so much damage, how much more so Christian leaders who manage to convince people that the same Jesus (God) who calls sex between men “detestable” would be standing right beside the LGBT lobby crusading for homosexual “marriage”? Shame.

In a free society, Christians should resist wicked homosexual militants and groups, and organized evil in general. That means standing up in whatever way you can to the well-funded and powerful homosexualist movement that pursues, with cult-like devotion, its goal of rationalizing same-sex identities and behavior. We must admonish impressionable youth — and the wider culture – that it is a false and unbiblical to cast homosexuality as “who you are,” as opposed to a behavioral sin that people can fall into.

The “gay” marketing campaign to redefine sexual perversion as a civil right is in one of the most spectacularly successful anti-God movements in human history. But it is still wrong. As a faithful Christian, you must be willing to stand with God and against sinful men, even if that means you will be called a name or suffer for righteousness’ sake.

Sadly, America is a nation and civilization in steep decline. And, as historians like the late Will Durant asserted, societal acceptance of homosexuality and sexual immorality are a sign of that decline. We have forsaken our nation’s biblical birthright. Now our President, Barack Obama and his Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton – both professing Christians — are spitting in God’s eye by pledging to promote homosexuality abroad as a “human right” – just as the Left previously fought to use American money and influence to promote abortion in foreign countries.

A few weeks ago, we noted that anti-gay activist Paul Blair was contemplating a run for the Oklahoma state Senate, prompted by threats he received after speaking out against a local anti-discrimination policy.

So it was no surprise that Blair was recently on Peter LaBarbera's radio program where the two spent most of the program discussing the threats they have received and complaining how differently such things would be treated if Christians did them to gay activists.

Also joining them on the program was Liberty Counsel's Matt Barber, who has never been shy about vocalizing his own pure and unabashed disgust for all things gay.  So eventually Barber trotted out the false Religious Right claim that the military was going to legalize bestiality and managed to link that to the Religious Right outrage over the fact that the Air Force Academy had constructed a worship center for Wiccans:

Now it is legal in the United States Armed Services, if this gets through the House and is signed by President Obama, bestiality will be legal in the ranks of the Armed Services. It boggles the mind.

But this is that slippery slope we're on, so I guess we shouldn't be surprised to find that the United States Air Force Academy recently built a shrine - a Satanic Wiccan shrine - so that Wiccans can worship at the Air Force Academy.

Once you open the door to evil, it doesn't take long for it to fall completely apart.

In an interview last month with Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality, Scott Lively of Defend the Family International said that proponents of “the homosexual agenda” are aiming for “the destruction of Christian civilization,” and that the gay rights movement is a sign of “the End of the Age.” Prior to discussing the “evil” gay rights movement, Lively told LaBarbera that kids should use the phrase “that’s so gay” to connote the “disgusting nature of homosexuality,” arguing that children are using the derogatory phrase “simply naturally” because they know that “they’re just talking about sodomy, and it’s something that’s ugly and should be attached to things that are unpleasant and wrong.”

LaBarbera: I know a lot of homosexuals want to ban the phrase “that’s so gay,” which a lot of kids use, and you know what, why should the word “gay” only be attached—the homosexual activists stole the word “gay,” it didn’t used to mean what it means today, it didn’t used to mean homosexuality, why should it only be—why should it now be allowed to be only used in a positive light?

Lively: The adoption of the word “gay” to replace “homosexual” was an attempt to sanitize homosexuality in the common vocabulary, and simply the nature, the disgusting nature of homosexuality has dirtied up the world. So now, simply naturally, children have started using this phrase “that’s so gay” essentially recognizing that they’re just talking about sodomy, and it’s something that’s ugly and should be attached to things that are unpleasant and wrong.

Lively: We’ve never faced in the history of Christianity, we have really never faced as much as a threat as we do right now from the homosexual agenda, and it really seems obvious to those who have been on the frontlines who have had that overview picture of what’s happening in society at large that this issue, somehow, seems to be the issue of the End of the Age.

Lively: I stand against the movement that they have created as a truly evil institution that’s goal, that’s goal, is the destruction of Christian civilization.

On Saturday, Peter LaBarbera told radio host Linda Harvey that the gay rights movement is on its way to ending freedom in America and “creating a more dangerous environment” for right-wing activists like themselves. LaBarbera said that “homo-fascism” and “homo-communism” are all part of “Satan’s plan” to transform the persecution of gays and lesbians into the persecution of anti-gay activists. Harvey warned that thee “human rights” and even the “personal safety” of anti-gay activists are under attack.

Such claims are not unusual from the right. Michael Brown and Cindy Jacobs, for instance, warned that gay rights advocates want to put them in jail and David Barton and Sally Kern claimed that those who upset the gay community put their own lives at risk.

LaBarbera: The homo-fascism is on the rise, and let’s just call it for what it is, or if you want to call it homo-communism, because why should the fascists get all the bad—the communists also wanted to shut down speech and did so. What’s happening is they’re ratcheting up what constitutes so-called hate, what is acceptable speech, and because the media is in the tank with the homosexual lobby and will not defend our freedoms, Christian’s religious freedom, then essentially they’ve basically given a get out of jail free card essentially to the homosexual activists. They can do anything they want and it seems like there’s very little critical, media attention which would restrain them.

Harvey: This is fascism. And if people don’t see what it is, even if they don’t agree, if people don’t see that these are the tactics of fascism, they’re trying to shut down debate, shut down free speech, and it will not simply end at the door of the right-wing. When you have fascists, everybody will suffer.

LaBarbera: Remember the left used that phrase “climate of hate”? The would say, “oh people like Linda Harvey and Peter LaBarbera are creating a climate of hate against gays.” As usual, this is Satan’s plan: the very thing they’re charging us with is what they do. They’re creating a more dangerous environment for us!

Harvey: Exactly and they don’t care. The people who’ve been screaming about human rights and the fact that they’ve been mistreated, really I’m getting the sense that they don’t care about our personal safety. There is not a humanity here.

Peter LaBarbera took his “woe is me” tour to Janet Parshall’s radio show In The Market yesterday, where he warned that gay rights groups will soon eliminate the freedom of speech. The Americans For Truth About Homosexuality president told Parshall that the Human Rights Campaign should be called the “Human Anti-Christian Discrimination Campaign” and says that they are promoting a “rising tide of bigotry against Christians.”

LaBarbera later warned that “because the media is so pro-gay right now the homosexual lobby is almost like they have no restraint.” After lamenting supposed attacks on Christians, LaBarbera went on to attack progressive Christians and saying that their faith is “heresy” for not condemning gays and lesbians.

LaBarbera: Because the media has basically joined the so-called ‘gay’ lobby, there’s very little restraint on them, Janet. What I see is this rising tide of what we’re calling ‘homo-fascism’ where they are basically trying to intimidate Christians into silence because the gay lobby understands that Christians are the last bulwark of opposition. The Human Rights Campaign is now—they should call it the Human Anti-Christian Discrimination Campaign because they are directly working across the country to get anybody fired who speaks out publicly not just against homosexuality but same-sex marriage. We have got to speak the truth now because there is this rising tide of bigotry against Christians and I’m afraid if we don’t speak out we’re going to be basically someday banned from speaking out by the government.

Parshall: Does it bother in all the years that you’ve done this that not only do you see this mounting animosity out there, but you’re also starting to see some churches backtrack on what God’s word says?

LaBarbera: Yes. The Progressive Christianity that is starting to embrace a gay identity, I think this is a heresy which is a growing and I think it’s very damaging. We have to watch that very carefully, because it’s basically playing to the world. It’s saying—it’s fearing man, saying we have to adapt the word to adjust to this new reality that homosexuality is so popular. Basically what’s happened is because the media is so pro-gay right now the homosexual lobby is almost like they have no restraint, they’re coming at as hard and they’re basic message is intimidate anybody who speaks out because they’re hoping they will silence ourselves.

Back in 2009, when Congress was working on legislation to expand hate crimes laws to include protections for sexual orientation, the Religious Right pitched a fit and mobilized to try and stop it. 

They failed, but Matt Barber of Liberty Counsel was among the leaders of the movement, going so far as to not only oppose adding sexual orientation to the law but calling for all hate crimes laws to be repealed:

Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle — in Washington and around the country — should not only reject S. 909, but should also begin working toward repeal of all state and federal hate-crimes laws.

All violent crimes are "hate crimes." Ever known anyone cracked upside the head in love? There may have been a time when hate-crimes laws were temporarily necessary, but that time has come and gone. When the 1968 federal hate-crimes bill passed, there were multiple and verifiable cases of local prosecutors refusing to indict whites for violent crimes committed against blacks. This was the justification for the law at the time.

We've moved well beyond those days, and FBI statistics bear out that reality. In today's America, every citizen, without fail, is both guaranteed and granted equal protection of the law regardless of race, religion, gender, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, dominant hand, favorite color or "American Idol" pick. This renders all extraneous hate-crimes laws woefully obsolete and fatally discriminatory.

Rather than continuing down the wrong path and creating new hate-crimes laws that unfairly favor whichever boutique special-interest group screams the loudest, we should move toward inclusion and equality for all Americans. We should look to the future instead of the past. We should both reject S. 909 and repeal all outdated and discriminatory hate-crimes laws.

After it was signed into law, Barber even participated in a rally protesting the new legislation as unconstitutional ... which is interesting, since today he will be participating in a press conference along with Peter LaBarbera to demand that the act of vandalism against the site hosting their anti-gay training session be treated as a hate crime:

A coalition of ministers and pro-family advocates is questioning the double-standard on "hate crimes" in the wake of an attack Saturday against Christian Liberty Academy (CLA) -- which was threatened with more violence if it continues to host conservative groups like Americans For Truth About Homosexuality (AFTAH).

Americans For Truth President Peter LaBarbera said, "Some in the media are calling this terrorist act 'vandalism,' which we doubt they would do if the situation were reversed and right-wing extremists threw two large bricks through the glass doors of a gay church."

"As conservatives we oppose the concept of 'hate crimes,' but since hate crimes laws are on the books they must be enforced even-handedly," LaBarbera said. “It is scandalous that a left-wing website post taking credit for this act of domestic terrorism -- and threatening more violence -- is still up and running."

Matt Barber of Liberty Counsel said hard-left groups like Gay Liberation Network create a "climate of hate" against Christians by demonizing them with vicious lies that equate the defense of Judeo-Christian morality with "hate."

"We will not compromise on God's truth. Neither will we be terrorized into silence," Barber said.

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality had as his guest today Chicago pastor and radio show host John Kirkwood. While speaking with LaBarbera, Kirkwood likened gays and lesbians to heroin users and said that supporting gay rights is similar to encouraging a drug addict. Kirkwood also attacked “the Lady Gaga theology that you were born that way” and said people who believe that are “rejecting God” and “rejecting the Bible.”

Kirkwood: So when Christians start buying into the Lady Gaga theology that you were born that way, they’re rejecting Paul, they’re rejecting God, they’re rejecting the Bible, they’re rejecting the offer of redemption through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. And so it’s a larger issue to me than simply traditional marriage versus same-sex marriage.

LaBarbera: Absolutely.

Kirkwood: It’s an affront to the most holy God. And God says, listen, here’s the thing that’s crazy, if your son was a heroin addict Peter, and you found out people were encouraging him in that behavior, that would be an enemy to you. You don’t want people to give him needles, even if they’re clean needles, you don’t want him to be applauded in that behavior because that behavior’s going to lead to destruction. You want somebody to be able to say to him 'listen God’s got a better way, you can be freed of this bondage.' And yet we don’t do this with homosexuality, or we’re scared to do this with homosexuality, when God told us that the end is destruction?

LaBarbera: He calls it an abomination.

Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality appeared yesterday on The Janet Mefferd Show, where he fretted about the rise of the gay rights movement. “This is one of the most successful American power campaigns that has ever existed,” LaBarbera lamented. “Consider in sixty years they went from being an aberrant, taboo lifestyle, which was ‘don’t even mention it,’ to now driving society.” He told Mefferd that because the “gay mafia” controls Hollywood and the media, even right-wing author Ann Coulter no longer associates “homosexual activists” with the “liberal mob.” After condemning the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell and discussing the impact of HIV-AIDS in the gay community, LaBarbera grieved that the government was “promoting” instead of suppressing “this unhealthy behavior”:

LaBarbera: You know I’m trying to get Christians to understand, look, it’s not about tolerance anymore; it’s about celebrating homosexuality.

Mefferd: Right, well we saw that just this week with the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. It was one side of the story, everybody was in the streets rejoicing, everybody was happy, all the sudden the sun has come out, completely ignoring the fact that there were plenty of Americans who were grieving that particular decision.

LaBarbera: Absolutely Janet, that was so sad to see. I was looking at our Chicago Sun Times, two full pages celebrating the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell repeal. The media now pretends that there is no other side in this issue and we have to work around that. But the homosexuals are sort of knowing that they have the media with them, are trying all these techniques, and the gay activists are sending me taunting messages, ‘you’re next Peter!’ This is how bad it is. People don’t understand; we don’t use the term ‘homo-fascism’ lightly.

The CDC just reported that 2 percent of men who have sex with men are responsible for 61 percent of AIDS cases, if it were any other behavior in this culture, wouldn’t we see a mobilization by governments state, local, federal, by private organizations, everybody would be saying, ‘we have to stop this unhealthy behavior.’ But in homosexuality it’s the opposite, we’re actually promoting the very behavior that’s killing people.

It’s a hateful thing to say Peter LaBarbera, Janet Mefferd, these Christians are hateful, that in it of itself is raw bigotry and hatred. Total dominance is what they’re after. It’s not about tolerance it’s about dominance. Yes they’re on a march. This is one of the most successful American power campaigns that has ever existed. Consider in sixty years they went from being an aberrant, taboo lifestyle, which was ‘don’t even mention it,’ to now driving society. Even Ann Coulter is bending to the gay lobby, she joined GOProud, she wrote a book called ‘Demonic’ and it’s about the mob, the liberal mob, and guess which group she happened to leave out? The homosexual activists, who rose to power through a riot in Stonewall, they fought the cops; they threw bottles at the police. If there’s not a gay mafia that controls Hollywood and the media, even the liberals talk about the gay mafia now it’s that powerful, and yet Ann Coulter of all people left it out of the book, because she knew it might threaten her prominence in the media.
