GOP's Base Clamors To Impeach Obama

Nearly two years into President Obama’s second term, a do-nothing Republican Congress is focusing on its next project: the 2014 midterm elections. But that effort might be complicated by increasing pressure from the party’s base to turn Congress’ energy to impeaching President Obama. The impeachment call, which has existed on the right-wing fringe since the start of Obama’s presidency, has picked up steam in recent weeks as it has been endorsed by right-wing media figures, activists and elected officials.

This has put Republican congressional leaders in a tricky spot as they attempt to placate their base without alienating moderate voters. When House Majority Whip Steve Scalise appeared on Fox News Sunday this week, he continually dodged the question. Ted Cruz similarly batted away a question about impeachment, calling it politically unfeasible. Right-wing leaders including Pat Buchanan and Tom DeLay have urged caution in the impeachment campaign, although DeLay said he would personally “love to impeach him.” Likewise, Karl Rove has warned that when it comes to impeachment, “the politics of it are all wrong.”

Even Rep. Steve Stockman of Texas, who last year distributed to every office on Capitol Hill a book on why the president should be impeached and removed from office and hired an attorney to look into impeachment, is now backtracking and warning that impeachment proceedings could benefit Democrats in the midterm elections.

Now, House Speaker John Boehner is claiming that talk of impeachment is a Democratic “scam” to win voters…an odd claim since it’s members of his own party who have been beating the drum about impeachment.

But it might be too late for Republicans to backtrack on a steady buildup of rhetoric questioning the president’s legitimacy, love of country, and authority to govern, which has led to increasing calls for impeachment from right-wing lawmakers, activists and media personalities... although nobody can quite agree on what the impeachment should be for.

  • In a radio interview last week, Rep. Michele Bachmann said that she believed the president has "committed impeachable offenses” but that first “the American people have to agree with and be behind and call for the president’s impeachment.”
  • This month, Rep. Lou Barletta of Pennsylvania said that there are “probably” the votes in the House to impeach the president for “absolutely ignoring the Constitution, and ignoring the laws, and ignoring the checks and balances.”
  • Also last year, Rep. Kerry Bentivolio of Michigan said that impeaching the president would be “a dream come true.”

Peter LaBarbera: Evangelicals Who Don't Fight Gay Rights are 'Unwilling to Confront The Realities Of Evil'

On a segment of “Sandy Rios in the Morning” last week, Americans For Truth About Homosexuality president Peter LaBarbera lamented the plight of the lowly Religious Right activist.

An expert on the evils of the LGBT movement, LaBarbera warned Rios that lawmakers, businesses and citizens are increasingly beholden to the demands of the “homosexual lobby,” regardless of their religious convictions. While LaBarbera and Rios wasted no time directing barbs at President Obama and pro-equality Democrats, LaBarbera mostly reserved his scorn for religious leaders and establishment Republicans for allegedly “bowing to the pressures” of gay rights advocates.

Rankled by the supposed lack of opposition to LGBT rights within the conservative movement, LaBarbera wondered, “I’m not sure anymore if evangelical Christians can actually be effective cultural warriors, so many are unwilling to confront the reality of evil, which is the promotion of the sin movement.” He contrasted the vigor of the gay rights movement, “which is implacable, which is always moving forward,” with the Religious Right, which he said is waging the “politics of defeatism.”

The idleness of conservative leaders, LaBarbera argued, has paved the way for the “special treatment” of LGBT people who believe that “laws don’t apply to them.”

Discussing recent LGBT Pride events, he also noted that while pornography, adultery and promiscuity are still considered taboo, the LGBT community is celebrated, perhaps, he posits, to “overcompensate” for knowing in their “heart of hearts” that homosexuality is also sinful.

Peter LaBarbera Says Men Are Gay Because They Just Want A 'Cheap Orgasm,' Obama 'Obsessed' With Homosexuality

James David Manning, the New York pastor who has warned of "Obama's homo-demons" and posted a "Stone Homos" sign on his church, hosted Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality on his radio show this week.

LaBarbera, who has devoted his entire life to combating gay rights, accused President Obama of being "obsessed" with homosexuality: "He's pandering to such a degree that it's like there is a spiritual force behind this, because who can explain the obsession that Barack Obama and his administration have for this issue."

LaBarbera also maintained that men are gay because they are too afraid of marrying a woman and having kids, as a "real man" would, and instead just want "the cheap orgasm."

"Homosexuality is robbing the potential husbands of women in the black community, and that's applicable to all women. I think homosexuality is one sense offers to men, if I can say this on your program, it offers the cheap orgasm. It's a lot harder to be a man, a real man and have a family, court a woman, marry a woman, have children, raise a family."

The anti-LGBT activist also said parents "have to start inoculating kids" against homosexuality and the "evil" of same-sex marriage. If someone tells them they are gay, LaBarbera advises, one should respond by asking: "Are you really? Because I don't think God wants homosexuality."

Peter LaBarbera Tells Michael Sam To Get Ex-Gay Therapy Or Be Reviled

Americans For Truth About Homosexuality’s Peter LaBarbera has sent a letter to Michael Sam asking him to consider ex-gay therapy, citing the HIV/AIDS rate among African Americans.

LaBarbera also warned Sam that by coming out of the closet and “celebrating homosexuality as normative,” he will face “notoriety among millions of us.”

LaBarbera has previously urged Sam to seek ex-gay therapy and lamented that he was “forced” to watch Sam kiss his boyfriend on television.

Michael, do we have to tell you that, especially with your current publicity, you are a role model because of your athletic prowess, but since “coming out” you are also modeling a lifestyle that the cost for those living it, has been unpublicized but appalling—as it has for society. The troubling fact is minorities are suffering most and in growing numbers. The evidence:

• Black youth–your fans among them–ages 13-24 are twice as likely to get HIV/AIDS than those of other ethnic groups.
• 94-95 percent of all HIV cases in 2011 among boys and young men ages 13-24 were linked to homosexual sex, the CDC reports.
• Youth 13-24 incur 26 percent of new HIV/AIDS infections each year.
• An estimated 60 percent of 13-24 year-olds are unaware that they’re infected with HIV; such ignorance can be a death sentence.
• Black men having sex with men (MSM) accounted in 2010 for 39 percent of all HIV/AIDS diagnoses.

Secondary to the toll in pain and death among MSM is the drain on U.S. medical and financial resources; for example, anti-viral drugs, which can prolong MSM life about 20 years, cost over $24,000 per year. They do prolong life but must be taken scrupulously or the MSM becomes infectious. To treat an HIV/AIDS victim costs from $400,000 to $600,000 from infection to death. In total, the HIV/AIDS epidemic costs the country about $5 billion per year, says CDC Director Dr. Tom Freiden.

Believe it or not, no one is born “gay”; molestation, emotional deprivation, parental or peer rejection, or other traumatic factors can foster same-sex attraction–but many men and women have managed it, diminished it, or eliminated it altogether. [See these heartwarming ex-"gay" testimonies.] Many accomplished this through Reparative Therapy and counseling, despite the relentless, unwarranted condemnation of and campaign against both by self-serving “gay” activists.

What we hope for from you, Michael, is that you don’t make your feelings, well-publicized as they have been, your claim to fame. Your achievements on the football field will earn you a legacy you can be proud of; your “coming out” as one celebrating homosexuality as normative can earn you only regret, as well as notoriety among millions of us.

Anti-Gay Activists Hopeful Hobby Lobby Will Lead To License To Discriminate

Anti-gay activists are rejoicing at the Supreme Court's decision in Hobby Lobby today, in part because they are hopeful that the decision will pave the way for one of their own policy goals: to use the religious liberty argument to push for broad exemptions for corporations from nondiscrimination laws.

Liberty Counsel's Matt Barber is hopeful that the decision bodes well for those trying to use religious freedom as a cloak to justify discrimination against LGBT people:

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality has a similar take:

There may be reason for them to be optimistic. As SCOTUSblog pointed out, the majority's opinion pointedly leaves open "the question of whether the Government has a similarly compelling interest in preventing discrimination on the basis of sex or sexual orientation."

With respect to implications for other kinds of religious-based discrimination, the Court writes that racial discrimination in hiring will not be permitted under RFRA because "The Government has a compelling interest in providing equal opportunity to participate in the workforce without regard to race, and prohibitions on racial discrimination are precisely tailored to acheive [sic] that critical goal." Note that this leave open the question of whether the Government has a similarly compelling interest in preventing discrimination on the basis of sex or sexual orientation.

UPDATE: TPM has more on this.

UPDATE II: Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association has joined the chorus:

Peter LaBarbera Defends Uganda, Warns Of Gay 'Neo-Imperialism'

Yesterday on VCY America’s flagship radio show “Crosstalk,” Peter LaBarbera expressed outrage over Joe Biden’s recent remarks in support of LGBT rights, accusing the vice president of “neo-imperialism.”

LaBarbera, the head of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality, defended draconian anti-gay laws in Uganda and Jamaica: “The American government has embraced a neo-imperialism where we arrogantly override the beliefs of countries like Jamaica and Uganda and other countries with the idea that we, America, know what’s best for the world.”

He went on to tell host Jim Schneider that homosexuality is “destructive” and “highly dangerous.”

“This is not civilized behavior, this is sinful, destructive behavior which is being celebrated by our government, and if that’s not bad enough, then forced upon the world as if America with all of our sin and all of our decadence knows what is best for the world,” he said.

Noting the low turnout at recent anti-gay events, LaBarbera wondered if “God has given up on America” since “many people are giving in now” on gay marriage.

He also encouraged the boycott of pro-LGBT companies like JCPenney, Macy’s, Starbucks: “There has to be a price to pay.” He specifically called out Honey Maid, which drew the ire of Religious Right activists for its inclusive TV ads. “I’ll never touch those crackers again,” he said.

LaBarbera also took a call from a listener who said that the country is “headed for a civil war” to stop liberals from “destroying our great country.”

LaBarbera responded that liberals are “dangerous” due to their “intolerance.”

“They will not allow in their minds the acceptability as legitimate of a viewpoint against homosexuality, which means they’re against God,” he added.

Peter LaBarbera Insists Homophobes Are Just Born That Way

In his interview with Peter LaBarbera this week, former InfoWars reporter David Ortiz argued that homophobia, especially for straight men, is “intuitive” and that the only sensible reaction to homosexuality is revulsion.

“If homosexuality was so normal, why is it every man’s instinctive response at first is to be disgusted by that?” he asked.

LaBarbera kicked it up a notch with the assertion that “homophobia” is a made-up word, manufactured by LGBT advocates to gain mainstream acceptance and vilify those who are inherently repelled by homosexuality.

“You’re absolutely right, there is a natural inhibition against homosexual behavior,” LaBarbera said. “I’m worried that young people are so brainwashed and they’re so indoctrinated that they’re losing that natural sense that we have.”

Peter LaBarbera Fears LGBT History Initiative Will Destroy America

A new National Park Service initiative to recognize locations significant in the history of the LGBT rights movement such as the Stonewall Inn has obviously upset Religious Right activists, including Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality.

In an interview Friday with OneNewsNow – a “news” site run by the American Family Association, which is currently leading a bizarre campaign against the Harvey Milk commemorative stamp – LaBarbera said that the new LGBT history initiative is “bringing down” America to the point where it “cannot survive in the long run.”

"We're going to teach our kids and our citizens that homosexuality is a civil rights issue when it's not," he laments. "It's a human misbehavior issue. It's just a sin movement – and we're elevating it to civil rights icon status."

"I fear for our country, because when a nation starts celebrating sexual immorality as the norm and as a social good, then that nation cannot survive in the long run," he explains. "Every other civilization has been brought down for sexual immorality as part of the factors bringing it down, and I think the United States of America will not be an exception in that regard."

LaBarbera adds the homosexual lobby is so powerful, it can push for something – such as the Park Service policy – and it's a done deal before most Americans even know about it, such as the Harvey Milk commemorative postage stamp.

Peter LaBarbera Angry He Was 'Forced' To Watch Michael Sam Kiss His Boyfriend

Americans For Truth About Homosexuality president Peter LaBarbera – who has joined other anti-gay activists in attacking the media for airing footage of Michael Sam kissing his boyfriend after learning that he was drafted by the St. Louis Rams – appeared on “Crosstalk” yesterday to discuss the kiss.

LaBarbera blasted media outlets for having “reported the kiss without giving the other side of people who would voice disapproval of people being forced and subjected to through the media these homosexual acts, the homosexual perversion.”

“Crosstalk” host Jim Schneider of VCY America even wondered if the NFL is “going to be requiring some kind of homosexual quota in the future.”

Later in the interview, when a caller credited LaBarbera and pastor Scott Lively for making “great strides abroad in places like Uganda,” LaBarbera lamented that “America is leaving God behind and we’ve become one of the most radical nations on Earth now.”

Peter LaBarbera Censors Michael Sam Kiss, Claims Sam Will Help Destroy Civilization

Peter LaBarbera is incensed that he had to see a picture of Michael Sam kissing his boyfriend after he learned that he would be drafted by the St. Louis Rams.

LaBarbera censored the picture on the homepage of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality, explaining that “AFTAH will block homosexual kisses because they are indecent and teach impressionable youth that perversion is OK.”

Like other anti-gay activists, he criticized Sam and warned he “could lead many young men astray by popularizing a grievous sin” and push American culture “willy-nilly into godlessness and sexual/gender chaos. But no civilization that glories in sexual immorality will survive in the long run.”

LaBarbera previously called Sam “deluded” and prayed he would “become an ex-gay.”

Don Jones did NOTHING wrong for calling this sinful act “horrible.”
...

Please pray for this lost soul, Michael Sam, who could lead many young men astray by popularizing a grievous sin. It is tragic that the establishment power structure–media, Hollywood, academia, the corporate world–now reward those who embrace homosexuality, and punish those who oppose it. The very opposite of anti-sodomy laws, huh? Yes, America is now, morally speaking, an upside-down culture–descending willy-nilly into godlessness and sexual/gender chaos. But no civilization that glories in sexual immorality will survive in the long run.

Christians and those who haven’t yet drunk the “gay” kool-aid need to boldly proclaim the politically incorrect truths surrounding this issue: the fact that many men and women have left homosexuality behind (ex-”gays”); the very real threat that “gay rights” activism poses to our First Amendment and religious freedoms; and the stunningly disproportionate link between homosexual practice and disease–e.g., a new CDC report documenting that a whopping 84 percent of primary and secondary male syphilis cases now are tied to homosexual sex.

Sounds to me like a behavior that ought to be discouraged, not celebrated. God bless.

Starbucks Ruined Peter LaBarbera's Mother's Day With 'Alphabetic Homoerotic Embrace'

Peter LaBarbera said today that his Mother’s Day was ruined by the sight of “snuggling Starbucks lesbians” in an ad the coffee company put out to mark the holiday.

The Americans for Truth about Homosexuality president was angry that the ad not only included a “deviant and immoral” lesbian couple but also featured what he considered to be “an alphabetic homoerotic embrace.”

LaBarbera lamented that a boycott of the coffee chain, championed by anti-gay groups including the National Organization for Marriage and the Family Research Council, has grown “anemic” and called for a new pressure campaign to reach Starbucks executives who “aren’t acting like they fear the consumer power of mobilized religious conservatives.”

For Mother’s Day Starbucks released the commercial below, voiced by Oprah Winfrey and hawking a new “Oprah Chai” tea. The ad celebrates all sorts of moms–including the “two moms are better than one mom”–shown with the affectionate lesbian “moms” at right and the “M’s” in “MOM” in what I suppose is an alphabetic homoerotic embrace. Messages like this no long shock a post-Christian America shaped in part by decadent corporations pandering to the highly organized LGBT lobby. Starbucks already has sold its corporate soul (is that an oxymoron?) to the homosexual agenda. Its executives made that clear in 2012 when they defiantly rebuffed a boycott threat by the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) and affirmed that support for homosexual “marriage” is a “core” Starbucks value.

The NOM “Dump Starbucks” boycott that followed seems anemic two years later (only 68,200 pledges)–but Starbucks [877-421-9062] remains a plump target for a more effectual and better organized boycott. Let’s face it: finding substitutes for overpriced yuppie coffee is pretty easy. We’ll see what happens, but one thing is certain: Starbucks execs are not backing down in their support of sexual sin and they surely aren’t acting like they fear the consumer power of mobilized religious conservatives.

As for single moms, our hearts go out to the many women who find themselves struggling to provide for their children with no dad in the house. But at least in most cases, single moms did not set out to deny their kids a father–just as single straight dads–unlike homosexual two-”dad” households–did not intentionally create motherless homes. And unlike those snuggling Starbucks lesbians in the ad below, single moms are not modeling deviant and immoral behavior condemned by God to their innocent children.

Peter LaBarbera Wants Ex-Gays On Fox, While Cliff Kincaid Wants Gays Out Of Conservative Movement

Appearing last week on the TV web show America’s Survival, Americans For Truth About Homosexuality president Peter LaBarbera attacked Modern Family and other TV shows for portraying gays as “the most noble” characters.

LaBarbera seemed to chide Modern Family both for including a gay couple and not focusing on the couple enough: “We see Modern Family where you’ve got two homosexual men raising an infant or a toddler like it’s nothing, like it’s nothing out of the ordinary. Of course, that’s intentional. They don’t even make that the main part of the show. This is manipulation. Americans are being manipulated on a daily basis by Big Hollywood and Big Media.”

LaBarbera also knocked Fox News for providing insufficient airtime for ex-gays. “When are we going to see a content, happy, ex-gay in a Hollywood movie?” he demanded.

“When is Sean Hannity, Megyn Kelly or Bill O’Reilly going to have an ex-gay on Fox?”

“Fox is promoting black conservatives, which is a good thing,” he added. “Why aren’t they promoting these politically incorrect people? Why have they never promoted ex-gays on Fox?”

Host Cliff Kincaid of Accuracy In Media, who last year demanded that CPAC hold a panel discussion on why gay people are “prone to violence, terror, and treason,” said that gay people or straight supporters of gay rights can’t be conservative.

After arguing that CNN host S.E. Cupp is “parading around and posing as a conservative,” Kincaid said that “you cannot be a conservative in the traditional sense and be a homosexual, you cannot be a conservative in the traditional sense and promote homosexual marriage and all these other libertine and left-wing causes.”

Co-host Jerry Kenney later said people should begin “referring to gay marriages as unnatural marriages,” but even that didn’t go far enough for LaBarbera.

“I don’t want to call it marriage,” he said. “You could look at a tree and call it a car, that doesn’t mean that’s a car.”

Peter LaBarbera Insists Abortion Rights Opponents Must Join Fight Against LGBT Rights

Americans For Truth About Homosexuality president Peter LaBarbera weighed in yesterday on the ongoing controversy among anti-choice activists as to whether groups focusing on criminalizing abortion should also campaign against LGBT rights.

In an interview with Janet Mefferd, LaBarbera insisted that opponents of abortion rights should join his anti-LGBT crusade, pointing to transgender people who undergo sex reassignment surgery as an issue that the anti-choice movement should be concerned about because it involves “breasts.”

LaBarbera should rest easy, as the majority of anti-choice groups share the anti-LGBT views that predominate the Religious Right.

Mefferd: Why do you think it’s so essential for pro-lifers to go hand and hand with the marriage issue and the biblical sexuality issue as well as the sanctity of human life?

LaBarbera: Well first of all, the issues are related. Marriage, sex between a man and a woman in a healthy marriage, that produces life. There are so many life issues here. We’re talking about diseases that result from immoral behavior, unnatural behavior. We see the transgender movement where we have women cutting off their healthy breasts to be like the men they think they are, if that isn’t a life issue — breasts, you know, feeding infants — these are all related. It doesn’t help the pro-life movement to say we’re going to be narrowly focused because we see that that’s a controversial issue and it’s going to hurt our cause. Look, God is big enough, trust God to stand for truth on all of God’s truth.

Peter LaBarbera Demands Liberty University Fire Openly Gay Choreographer

Americans For Truth About Homosexuality head Peter LaBarbera is demanding the notoriously anti-gay Liberty University fire theatre artist Geoffrey Goldberg, who was hired to choreograph the school’s production of Mary Poppins, because he is gay. On Voice of Christian Youth America’s Tuesday edition of Crosstalk, LaBarbera and host Vic Eliason ganged up on Liberty University and demanded Goldberg’s ouster.

Liberty University has responded to news reports by saying that Goldberg is an “independent contractor supplied to the university through a third-party association who has never been employed or applied for employment” at the school.

LaBarbera name-dropped fellow anti-gay activists at Liberty including Mat Staver, Matt Barber and Rena Lindevaldsen, and urged the school to “do the right thing” and part ways with Goldberg. He even demanded Liberty and other universities refuse to allow “open homosexual advocates as students” and called on Grove City College to fire professor Warren Throckmorton over his criticism of ex-gay therapy and anti-gay laws in countries like Uganda.

Not to be outdone, Eliason worried about “percentage of homosexuals that have invaded the arts such as drama” in order to “capture the minds of individuals.”

Eliason: Christian News carried this story with the headline, ‘Liberty University Hires Open Homosexual Advocate To Choreograph Its Upcoming Broadway-Style Mary Poppins Production,’ what more do you know about this thing?

LaBarbera: I don’t know a lot about this one. Apparently he was a contractor and I think that the woman who spoke out on his behalf probably did not have the clearance of the university before she did that. I know the people I’ve worked with at Liberty and I hope they fix this problem because this is such a great organization, it’s done so much good work. Jerry Falwell did such tremendous work, Ronald Reagan would never have been president without Jerry Falwell, the founder of Liberty University.

The bigger story Vic is the one that didn’t get much play which is: Liberty University and other Christian universities who call themselves Christian, will they allow open homosexual advocates as students? In the old days if a student was out there celebrating sin, there would be consequences. But apparently that doesn’t happen much. We have other examples of course of universities gone bad. Good golly, Grove City College has some wonderful professors but they also have Warren Throckmorton who is pretty much a de facto gay activist now; a professor at Grove City College, which calls itself Christian and advertises in World Magazine and other Christian places, they have Warren Throckmorton who is pretty much a gay activist the way he advocates for homosexuality.

Eliason: It’s alarming when you see the percentage of homosexuals that have invaded the arts such as drama. But drama ends up being a tool to persuade the minds of people. It becomes a tool to do some mind-bending or to capture the minds of individuals. They’re starting now and you can see using Open Core [sic] and right on through the core idea of training children from right on up government-controlled education, and now we see what’s happening at the options of a university that could have put the brakes on this and said no, we’re going to look for someone who is really a representative of the lifestyle that we’re doing here. Does not Christianity have people of talent enough to do the choreography of a dramatic presentation without having to go to someone who openly endorses same-sex marriage?

LaBarbera: I think they do and I hope that Liberty does the right thing. Mat Staver, Matt Barber, Rena Lindevaldsen are just wonderful people and I think Liberty really has to watch it because of course the homosexual activists want to undermine Liberty, of course they want to undermine Christian institutions.

The AFTAH president went on to condemn gay rights advocates as the “Gay-KK” and “Gay-Stapo,” warning that the movement is a “homo-Marxist” effort based on “idiocy” and “tyranny.”

Eliason: I’ve heard of people talk about homo-fascists but you’ve got another term that’s been brought forward which is a little bit different.

LaBarbera: Well I’m using homo-Marxist and homo-fascist. Homo-fascism suggests this bully mentality, this idea that the homosexual activists know what is best for everybody and they’re going to take people down, anybody who gets in their way, undemocratic, that’s where that came from and now it’s really starting to gain popularity. Other pejorative sort of joking terms like the Gay-KK and the Gay-Stapo, but I’m also using homo-Marxist and here’s why I think it is actually more accurate.

The Communists, the Marxists, they’re the ones who had this radical egalitarianism, they thought they were going to make everybody equal and what did it do, it led to tyranny. Look at the homosexual lobby, they’re trying to pretend that homosexual behavior is somehow equal to the real deal, they call it marriage equality, that somehow two men getting ‘married’ is equal and deserves the same benefits and rights and standing in society as real marriage, and of course that’s idiocy, that’s nonsensical.

The interview concluded with a truly bizarre rant by Eliason calling transgender people and women construction workers “disgusting” and attacking “the Islamics, who can grow a beard now, which who knows it can get caught in a barbed wire fence, that wear a turban to designate who they are, I wonder if they’re trying to look for sympathy so that no one would shoot a guy with a turban on. I don’t understand.”

Eliason’s group is based in Milwaukee County, where in 2012 a white supremacist murdered six Sikhs, whose adherents wear turbans, at their Oak Creek temple.

LaBarbera: If they allow transsexuals into the military, you’re going to see guys and women joining the military just to get their body-altering, these terrible sex-reassignment surgeries paid for by the taxpayer.

Eliason: Mutilation, if you please.

LaBarbera: Mutilation, right.

Eliason: I can only imagine the confusion that would be there if here is some guy dressed in a big skirt trying to look feminine climbing into the left seat in a bomber or into a jetfighter and getting his dress all snarled up trying to climb in. We’re talking about guys running jackhammers and making bunkers and things like that, if there’s anything disgusting it’s to see, and I mean this kindly but women are made of God to be very special, and one day I was driving down the street and I saw this, well this lady was pretty hefty, but she was operating a jackhammer and what it did to her was absolutely astounding, it was wicked, it was a violation of the very purpose of the wonderful gift of femininity.

If we’ve got people here now suddenly all on the altar of being able to — it’s not just the transgenders [sic], now if you feel like you’re feminine one day and feel like you’re masculine the next day, you can change back and forth, switch-hitter. And of course we have to be fair, so we have also turned the option to the Islamics, who can grow a beard now, which who knows it can get caught in a barbed wire fence, that wear a turban to designate who they are, I wonder if they’re trying to look for sympathy so that no one would shoot a guy with a turban on. I don’t understand.

LaBarbera Warns You Can't Be A Christian And Support 'Redefining Marriage To Accommodate A Sexual Sin'

Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality was not happy last month when Chick-Fil-A CEO Dan Cathy said he was going to stop speaking out publicly against marriage equality, calling him a “sellout” who was “hurting the cause.”

The anti-gay activist was even further dispirited by the charity World Vision’s decision – since reversed – to recognize the marriages of its gay employees. Speaking with talk show host Janet Mefferd yesterday, LaBarbera told evangelicals that you can’t “call yourself a Christian” and also support “redefining marriage to accommodate a sexual sin.”

When Mefferd asked him whether he thought controversies like the one over World Vision’s treatment of gay employees would become more common, LaBarbera responded, “Yeah, I think a lot of evangelicals are going to sell out.”

“I’m afraid were going to see evangelicals either opting out of this issue entirely…or, even worse than that, we’re going to see evangelicals getting behind the idea of natural gay identity and even so-called homosexual marriage,” he said.

“And that’s a sad thing,” he continued, “because if you’re going to call yourself a Christian, don’t get behind non-Christian or anti-Christian ideas. Struggling with homosexuality is one thing – many people struggle with sins – but proudly defending homosexuality and even redefining marriage to accommodate a sexual sin is quite another.”

Peter LaBarbera Praises Uganda, Colonial Era Anti-Gay Laws

On The Janet Mefferd Show yesterday, Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality praised “countries like Uganda and Jamaica” for refusing to “follow the American path” and passing draconian anti-gay laws. He warned that the decriminalization of homosexuality opens a “Pandora’s box” and countries like Uganda “don’t want to learn this from America, we’ve become a very decadent nation and they want to preserve Judeo-Christian morals.”

LaBarbera also waxed nostalgic for the good ol’ days when homosexuality was a crime in the US — falsely claiming that gay people never went to jail — and also hailed anti-gay laws in the colonial era, when homosexuality was punishable by death.

Mefferd defended Uganda’s government from criticism by Secretary of State John Kerry, attacking him for trying to “strong-arm nations across the world on the LGBT issue.”

“These people are a joke,” she said.

Peter LaBarbera Warns Gay Rights Advocates Are 'Trying To Steal Christianity'

Anti-gay activist Peter LaBarbera is outraged by the existence of Christian gay rights supporters and is afraid of a plot to "steal Christianity."

During Saturday's edition of Mission America Radio, LaBarbera told host Linda Harvey that columnist Kirsten Powers' opposition to Arizona's "right-to-discriminate" bill is proof of the warning that "there's a huge movement on the left" to "steal Christianity to make it pro-sin, pro-homosexuality."

Harvey agreed and said that people are "sick and tired" of the gay rights movement: "There is no evidence homosexuality is inborn, it's a learned desire and behavior and so we just have to keep standing on that truth and we know tons of people agree. You've had calls recently with people out of the blue are saying, 'I want to be involved,' who have never been involved before. They are sick and tired of it."

LaBarbera: Michael Sam Must 'Repent' And 'Walk Away' From 'Deluded' Homosexuality

Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality is predictably disturbed by all-American defensive end Michael Sam’s decision to come out of the closet.

LaBarbera told Voice of Christian Youth America host Vic Eliason yesterday that Sam needs to “become an ex-gay, an ex-homosexual.”

Worrying that “you could not script a better person for the homosexual side than Michael Sam,” LaBarbera demanded that the “deluded” Sam “repent and walk away from that lifestyle with the help of believers.”

We all need to pray for this man, Michael Sam. I watched the interview, he seems like a neat guy, you could not script a better person for the homosexual side than Michael Sam. He’s just a very well-spoken, he said he just wants to help the team, but he’s deluded because God does not give homosexuality as part of who you are. He used that phrase, ‘who you are,’ in the ESPN interview and I think that’s the saddest thing of all to think that sexual sin is part of who you are. We need to pray that the Lord will touch him, he will be sought out by Christians in the NFL or wherever he is playing and that he will accept Jesus Christ and become an ex-gay, an ex-homosexual.

Michael Sam’s worst enemies are the media and everybody who is praising him. He needs Christians to come in, lovingly tell him that homosexuality is not acceptable before God, he needs to repent and walk away from that lifestyle with the help of believers. That’s what I’m going to be praying for Michael Sam. The NFL and all these pro-homosexual people are not his friends.

Eliason kicked off the show with a message to Right Wing Watch, warning that Americans are “being impressed with the need to compromise our moral and spiritual values on the altar of perversion.” He was especially angry with the “unnatural” gay couples featured in a recent family-themed Chevrolet ad. “I drive a Chevrolet and I’m offended,” he said.

LaBarbera responded that Chevrolet is helping a movement to “bring about the moral and spiritual decline of the nation, and ultimately bring down America.”

The AFTAH leader also repeated his praise for Russia’s recent anti-gay crackdown and denounced the Obama administration officials for criticizing the country’s “homosexual propaganda” ban. Eliason added that the U.S. has become a “gray mushroom cloud that is obscuring the moral vision of people around the world.”

LaBarbera said that gay people cannot have a real family but can only “acquire a child” for their “rip-off of the family,” and later attacked -- once again -- the inclusion of a same-sex couple on Disney’s “Good Luck Charlie.”

Two homosexuals cannot have a child. They can acquire a child, but two men cannot produce a baby. That should say something to people about how natural homosexuality is, it cannot produce children; only normalcy, heterosexuality can do that. Yet we see more and more now the media and the ad industry and corporations promoting the homosexual version, the rip-off of the family.

On the show Good Luck Charlie, which is on the Disney Channel, this is just more of the same propaganda, Hollywood knows how to work it. Of course, it was two pretty women who show up at the door, it was a playdate, the mom doesn’t even tell the father that it was a lesbian couple coming over so you don’t even have to tell dad that the couple’s a lesbian. They come over and of course the father is the dumb one as always on these show; mom’s smart, dad’s dumb. No big deal, the kid comes running over and the message is: no big deal. The husband makes the observation that the child has ‘two mommies’ and the mom makes a snide remark like ‘boy, nothing gets by you Bob.’ In other words, no big deal. Then it went on in the show, very interestingly, very manipulative, the mom doesn’t even like the conversation with one of the lesbians. It’s not like it made them out to be the best people in the world, it just made it to be no big deal, and that’s what everything in the media and the Hollywood are doing: homosexuality, no big deal.

AFTAH: Google Is Bigoted For Supporting Gay Rights

Have Google boycotts returned?

Americans For Truth About Homosexuality is outraged about a Google doodle that was critical of Russia’s anti-gay crackdown.

Warning that Google is helping “sodomitic gratification,” AFTAH head Peter LaBarbera today posted a letter from ex-gay activist Dean Bailey, who writes that Google is somehow discriminating against Christians and ex-gays by supporting gay equality.

Although we are still wondering how exactly Google is guilty of discrimination, Bailey and LaBarbera might also be wary of using Bing.

Just one problem with your gay-pandering manipulations, Google… Russian law does not prohibit homosexuals from participating in the Olympic sporting events. They are there! It simply prevents them from propagating their lies and blatant immorality to the public, and more specifically, to children citizens of Russia.

You, Google, on the other hand, violate the very quotation you posted there, each and every time you discriminate against the Christian viewpoint of hope that offers people freedom from homosexual sin and behaviors. There is absolutely no “mutual understanding” from you, or from the homosexual activists that you pander to in that regard… NONE WHATSOEVER!

There ARE people in America and in this broken world of ours who DO experience UNWANTED homosexual issues and behaviors. And there ARE people, like me, who have permanently changed this sexually addictive behavior! But Google Inc., and the homosexual activists you one-sidedly pander to, refuse to even acknowledge that FACT.

They shove their buzz words of “tolerance” and “homophobia” in our faces, and yet they are allowed to maintain a double-standard of becoming some of the most vehemently intolerant and faith-phobic people on earth, toward anyone and everyone who dares to disagree with their manipulations and blatant lies, even using internet media-supported character assassinations to demoralize any person or entity who dares to stand on the integrity of common sense in their disagreement with them.

What are they so afraid of? What are YOU so afraid of, Google? The truth, obviously! And so you, Google Inc, pander to their lies, manipulations, and blatant hypocrisy. YOU are just as GUILTY as they are.

Peter LaBarbera Furious That Gay Couple Is Featured In 'America The Beautiful' Song Authored By Gay Songwriter

As you probably already know, right-wing commentators had a complete and utter meltdown over Coca-Cola’s “America the Beautiful” ad during the Super Bowl. Along with complaints that the ad featured eight different languages, several pundits criticized the inclusion of same-sex parents.

Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality was among them, complaining that Coca-Cola is trying to “pander to the ‘Gay’ Lobby” in its attempt to have Americans “conditition to accept sexual perversion as normal.”

"Coke's Super Bowl ad is only the latest step in the escalating government-corporate campaign to normalize homosexuality in the culture,” said Peter LaBarbera, president of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality.

“Americans are being conditioned to accept sexual perversion as normal and good, and there is some big corporate money behind it,” LaBarbera told LifeSiteNews. “It's sad that families can't even watch the Super Bowl anymore without having their faith undermined.”

“Common sense, reason, and centuries of Judeo-Christian history tell us that it is best for children to have a mom and a dad. This is what responsible companies should celebrate,” LaBarbera told LifeSiteNews. “Yet instead Coke chose to pander to the 'Gay' Lobby by honoring homosexual parenting – in this case a household that intentionally denies children a mother.”

LaBarbera said there was one solution to cultural messages promoting any kind of sexual immorality. “Parents must take proactive steps to explain to their children why biblical morality is preferable to an ideology and lifestyle that celebrates sexual sin in the name of 'diversity,'” he said.

Showcasing homosexuals alongside ethnic minorities places those who object on the defensive against charges they are “racist,” he said.

This is rather awkward since evidently LaBarbera and the other anti-gay activists trashing the Coca-Cola ad might want to do some research into the author of “America the Beautiful,” Katherine Lee Bates:

The author of this iconic anthem of American patriotism was Katherine Lee Bates. In a brilliant lampoon of the backlash against the Coke commercial, Stephen Colbert pointed out that Bates was a lesbian. He could also have added that she was also a Christian socialist and an ardent foe of American imperialism.

Bates (1859-1929), a well-respected poet and professor of English at Wellesley College, was part of progressive reform circles in the Boston area, concerned about labor rights, urban slums and women's suffrage.

For decades Bates lived with and loved her Wellesley colleague Katharine Coman, founder of the college's economics department, who authored The History of Contract Labor in the Hawaiian Islands and The Economic History of the Far West. Coman was also a poet. She and Bates jointly wrote English History as Taught by English Poets.

Although they lived together for 25 years in what was then called a "Boston Marriage," they could not publicly acknowledge their intimate relationship. When Coman died, however, Bates published Yellow Clover: A Book of Remembrance that celebrated their love and their involvement in the radical and social reform movements of their day.

Were Bates and Coman alive today, they would probably have taken advantage of Massachusetts' law allowing same-sex couples to marry -- a law that folks like Limbaugh find appalling.

Bates' circle of reformers and radicals -- including union activists, feminists, and housing crusaders -- were strong advocates for immigrants. Bates and Coman volunteered at Denison House, a Boston settlement house that worked to improve the lives of immigrants who lived in Boston's slums and worked in its sweatshops. Denison House was founded by their Wellesley colleague Vida Scudder, another radical socialist, feminist, and lesbian. It was modeled on Hull House, founded by Jane Addams in Chicago.

This has put Republican congressional leaders in a tricky spot... MORE >

While LaBarbera and Rios wasted no time directing barbs at President Obama and pro-equality Democrats, LaBarbera mostly reserved his scorn for religious leaders and... MORE >

James David Manning, the New York pastor who has warned of "Obama's homo-demons" and posted a "Stone Homos" sign on his church, hosted Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality on his radio show this week. LaBarbera, who has devoted his entire life to combating gay rights, accused President Obama of being "obsessed" with homosexuality: "He's pandering to such a degree that it's like there is a spiritual force behind this, because who can explain the obsession that Barack Obama and his administration have for this issue.... Americans For Truth About Homosexuality’s Peter LaBarbera has sent a letter to Michael Sam asking him to consider ex-gay therapy, citing the HIV/AIDS rate among African Americans. LaBarbera also warned Sam that by coming out of the closet and “celebrating homosexuality as normative,” he will face “notoriety among millions of us.” LaBarbera has previously urged Sam to seek ex-gay therapy and lamented that he was “forced” to watch Sam kiss his boyfriend on television. Michael, do we have to tell you that, especially with your current publicity, you... MORE >

Anti-gay activists are rejoicing at the Supreme Court's decision in Hobby Lobby today, in part because they are hopeful that the decision will pave the way for one of their own policy goals: to use the religious liberty argument to push for broad exemptions for corporations from nondiscrimination laws. Liberty Counsel's Matt Barber is hopeful that the decision bodes well for those trying to use religious freedom as a cloak to justify discrimination against LGBT people: #HobbyLobby may help protect businesses from those pushing counter-biblical #LGBT ... Yesterday on VCY America’s flagship radio show “Crosstalk,” Peter LaBarbera expressed outrage over Joe Biden’s recent remarks in support of LGBT rights, accusing the vice president of “neo-imperialism.” LaBarbera, the head of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality, defended draconian anti-gay laws in Uganda and Jamaica: “The American government has embraced a neo-imperialism where we arrogantly override the beliefs of countries like Jamaica and Uganda and other countries with the idea that we, America, know what’s best for the world.” He... LaBarbera kicked it up a notch with the assertion that “homophobia” is a made-up word, manufactured by LGBT advocates to gain mainstream acceptance and vilify those who are inherently repelled by homosexuality... A new National Park Service initiative to recognize locations significant in the history of the LGBT rights movement such as the Stonewall Inn has obviously upset Religious Right activists, including Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality. In an interview Friday with OneNewsNow – a “news” site run by the American Family Association, which is currently leading a bizarre campaign against the Harvey Milk commemorative stamp – LaBarbera said that the new LGBT history initiative is “bringing down” America to the point where it “cannot...
