Televangelist Pat Robertson on the 700 Club today responded to a news story about the conflict in Mali with a rant against Islam, calling the faith a “religion of chaos” that is almost “demonic” — before saying that he doesn’t consider Islam a religion at all but “an economic and political system with a religious veneer.” Robertson has previously claimed that “Islam is not a religion” but the Antichrist that is akin to Nazism and fascism.

Robertson: It’s Islam, it’s Islam. Every time you look up — these are angry people, it’s almost like it’s demonic that is driving them to kill and to maim and to destroy and to blow themselves up. It’s a religion of chaos. I hardly think to call it a religion, it’s more of — well, it’s an economic and political system with a religious veneer.

Televangelist Pat Robertson is dishing out more useful marital and family advice to 700 Club viewers, including one who asked how to rekindle the relationship between his parents. In a question to Robertson, “Maxim” said that he “noticed that there has been a change in my father’s behavior” as he “spends too much time at the computer playing a war game,” which is making his mom feel alone. After suggesting that Maxim bring his parents to a “romantic resort,” Robertson promptly blamed the mother.

“You know it may be your mom isn’t as sweet as you think she is, she may be hard-nosed,” Robertson said. “It’s easy to blame the mother.”

Robertson then recounted a story about how a fellow pastor told an “awful looking” woman who was upset that her husband started to drink, “Madam, if I was married to you I’d start to drink too.” He added that women can’t expect their husbands’ love if they are “slatternly looking.”

Televangelist Pat Robertson, who has previously described President Obama as an anti-American, power-hungry dictator with a Muslim “inclination,” today on the 700 Club claimed that Obama is an “ideologue” and a secret “socialist” who is out to “take over everything” and “destroy the free enterprise system.”

The President is an ideologue. He wants to redistribute wealth and he wants to grow the size of government. He wants to absorb like an amoeba all the various—he’s already taken over a good part of health care, he wants to take over the financial services, he wants to take over everything and he wants to control it. What do you call that? It’s socialism. He wouldn’t admit to being a socialist but that’s what it is. He has an agenda. Now Karl Rove was saying in an op-ed today that what the President is trying to do is set up the Republicans so they fight among themselves and therefore the party goes into disunity in the next election and Obama wins there. I don’t think he thinks that way. I think he thinks ideologically: I must cripple the capitalist class; I must cripple the business owners; I must destroy the free enterprise system in America.

On yesterday’s 700 Club, Pat Robertson accused liberals of building a “society of death” over their views on euthanasia and abortion rights. “Those on the left claim to be liberals but they want death,” he said, charging liberals with going “literally wild at demonstrations” and creating an “abortion distortion.” Of course, abortion rates are actually higher in countries where it is illegal, and many of the contraceptive policies backed by liberals and opposed by Robertson have greatly reduced the number of abortions. Last year, Robertson suggested that liberals want straight women to “abort their babies” in order to put lesbians “on a level playing field.”

In January, televangelist Pat Robertson told 700 Club viewers that in his annual New Year’s “conversation” with God, the Almighty had revealed to him who the next president would be. Up through Election Day, Robertson harshly criticized President Obama and the Democratic Party while praising Mitt Romney. Then, Robertson’s Christian Broadcasting Network predicted a GOP sweep, leaving Robertson utterly confounded by Obama’s victory.

Today, responding to a question from a viewer who wondered why her business is struggling since she thought God told her it would be successful, Robertson admitted that he sometimes misses God’s message. “So many of us miss God, I won’t get into great detail about elections but I sure did miss it, I thought I heard from God, I thought I had heard clearly from God, what happened?” Robertson replied, “You ask God, how did I miss it? Well, we all do and I have a lot of practice.”

Yesterday on the 700 Club, televangelist Pat Robertson seemed to portray CIA Director David Petraeus as the real victim of the growing sex scandal involving him and his biographer, Paula Broadwell. He described Broadwell as an “extremely good-looking woman” who is a “marathon runner, she’d run Iron Man triathlons and so she’s out running with him, and she's writing a biography,” and Petraeus simply couldn’t help himself: “The man’s off in a foreign land and he’s lonely and here’s a good-looking lady throwing herself at him. He’s a man.”

The Christian Broadcasting Network put on an election night special and host Pat Robertson appeared to be dumbfounded that President Obama won re-election. Robertson’s guests included Fred Barnes of The Weekly Standard, John Fund of the Wall Street Journal, Regent University vice president Paul Bonicelli and Romney adviser Jay Sekulow of the American Center for Law and Justice, the legal group Robertson founded. Barnes reassured Robertson that even if Obama wins, the President “hardly has a mandate for anything” because “this was a status quo election,” as apparently Barnes thinks any incumbent who gets re-elected doesn’t have a mandate. But Sekulow said that Obama will likely appoint two or three justices to the Supreme Court and will use the power of the executive branch to push new “encroachments on liberty and freedom.”

Robertson, who throughout the program held out hope that Karl Rove’s prediction that Romney could win Ohio would materialize, was stunned that Obama was the winner: “What have they got? He doesn’t seem to have any program and yet he’s been able to win a re-election, what is going on with the American people?” Bonicelli said that Americans will spend their next four years “regretting this decision” and Robertson warned that the U.S. is looking more like Western Europe and even Zaire.

Of course, Robertson should not have been surprised since earlier this year God told him who would win the election.

Shortly after the September 11th attacks televangelist Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson blamed gays and lesbians, feminists, the American Civil Liberties Union and People For the American Way for the tragedy since they compelled God to “lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve.” Yesterday on the 700 Club, Robertson warned that God may once again “take down the wall of protection around this nation” of protection over gay rights, reproductive freedom and secular government.

I think that right now God has planted this nation, He has loved it, prospered it, blessed it beyond measure. We have enshrined deviant sex into our constitution, we have enshrined the infanticide of young babies into our constitution, we have ruled consistently that our children can’t pray and read the Bible in their schools, we have limited over and over again our expression of faith in God and God is saying ‘I’m going to take down the wall of protection around this nation’ unless something happens, and that’s why we’ve got to pray.

Adding his voice to the faux-outrage that the 2012 Democratic National Platform, while having a section extolling religious faith as “a driving force of progress and justice throughout our history,” doesn’t include mentions of God, televangelist Pat Robertson on the 700 Club today skewered Democrats for representing only “gays, godlessness and whatever else.” “Same-sex marriage is in the platform, they want to go along with that as a right, I’m just astounded,” Robertson said.

Later in his commentary, Robertson said that after having “insulted” Catholics and labor unions, now the Democrats are “going after God, it makes no sense but that’s what they want to do.”

Back in the 1850s or 60s there was a charge that one party was the party of rum, Romanism and rebellion. I don’t know what you label the Democrats now but it’s the party of gays, godlessness and whatever else. I mean, same-sex marriage is in the platform, they want to go along with that as a right, I’m just astounded.

They can’t defend it and you ask yourself, you’re going to go before the American people and that’s going to be the face they’re going to present to America. You have insulted the Catholic Church with your rules, you have insulted right-to-work states, you have insulted certain union groups with your stand on the pipeline and now you’re going after God, it makes no sense but that’s what they want to do.
