Mission America president Linda Harvey today echoed the arguments of other Religious Right leaders that the Obama administration’s directive to support LGBT rights abroad will encourage “perversion and deviance” and “lead to destruction.” On her radio show, Harvey accused Secretary of State Hillary Clinton of trying to demonize religious beliefs and defying God. “We can read in Genesis 19 about how predatory and abusive people became in Sodom,” Harvey said, “I think the message is very clear that these behaviors do not benefit society but lead to destruction.” She concluded her radio show by asking viewers whether they “believe Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton on this, or Almighty God”:

Harvey: In their vigorous defense of perversion and deviance they have declared war on people of faith and families, particularly Christians, Hillary equated religious objections to homosexuality with being “not unlike the justification offered for violent practices toward women like honor killings, widow burning or female genital mutilation.” So let’s understand, that those of us who believe men with men or women with women are unnatural or immoral relationships, we are being lumped in with murderers and mutilators. This is such unsupportable and childish reasoning, it’s almost worthy of satire if the results weren’t so destructive and unjust. Hillary highlighted the practice of criminalizing homosexual conduct in some countries, she didn’t name them, but she made no distinction between the most harsh and unnecessary penalties and those who simply speak out in a free society to discourage homosexual behavior. What about those who don’t want these behaviors promoted to kids or don’t support legalizing same-sex marriage? It’s apparently all the same to her and Barack Obama.

There’s a problem, more than one actually. This new declaration of gay rights as human rights is not backed by U.S. law, homosexuality is not a civil right in our country, so once again the Obama administration is inventing policy and acting unilaterally. I hope that Congress will respond soon to restrain this tyranny. Homosexuality is not opposed only in modern times and not only by Christian conservatives, it was part of antiquity and we can read in Genesis 19 about how predatory and abusive people became in Sodom. I think the message is very clear that these behaviors do not benefit society but lead to destruction. We have a choice; we can believe Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton on this, or Almighty God. I know what my choice is, what about you?

Linda Harvey of Mission America today accused gays and lesbians of “pitching a fit” and “constantly complaining” in order to promote “radical social change” and “destroy traditional values.” “Even if your cause is unworthy and your complaints have little merit, the way the media works today, you’ll still get publicity and it will seem as though you will need to be taken seriously,” Harvey said, who went on to argue that “homosexual activists” are using “baseless” cases of discrimination in order to squash the “constitutional religious or free speech liberties of other people.”

The first case Harvey cited were the demonstrations that took place near a private Christian school in Delaware, Ohio, after the school removed a Columbus radio talk show host from their prominent alumni page because he is openly gay, with the principal saying, “I cannot approve of the lifestyle he has chosen to endorse.”

Harvey’s second example of gays and lesbians “making a fuss” and “pitching a fit” was the recent brutal attack of an openly gay fifteen year-old student at a high school in Chillicothe, Ohio. The ABC affiliate WSYX posted video of the attack, which was captured on another student’s cellphone, and interviewed the victim and his mom who detailed the history of anti-gay bullying at the school. Just two days before he the assault, the perpetrator posted on his Facebook, “check out the definition of a faggot.”

Now, the American Civil Liberties Union and the victim’s family want to make sure that the school develops a policy that protects students from bullying and discrimination based on their sexual orientation.

But Harvey considered this a “baseless” case of “so-called homophobia,” dismissing claims that the attack was motivated by anti-gay bias.

While Harvey agreed that the perpetrator should be punished, she warned that the assault is going to be used to “institute pro-homosexual programs.” Harvey angrily claimed that the students involved have become “convenient tools for homosexual activism,” asking, “where do we stop at pushing homosexuality onto our kids?”

Harvey: One of the most recognized methods for radical social change is to just keep making a fuss and keep pitching a fit. Even if your cause is unworthy and your complaints have little merit, the way the media works today, you’ll still get publicity and it will seem as though you will need to be taken seriously. And along the way you will attract some less informed people to the cause who are easy to manipulate and used for whatever purposes are needed. Again, this will make the movement seem valid, even if it is not. That’s what homosexual activists are doing today, constantly complaining about things that when investigated, are often baseless, and they will push aside the rights of others as if the constitutional religious or free speech liberties of other people don’t matter. It’s time for America to figure out that these folks are out to destroy traditional values, and all that talk about tolerance and respect only goes one way. Let me tell you about two recent situations in central Ohio that illustrate this.

Another incident in Chillicothe that is being used to pressure a school to institute pro-homosexual programs, a student at Union-Scioto high school was caught on video physically assaulting a student known to be openly homosexual. The first student has been charged by police and is being disciplined according to school guidelines, and all of this is appropriate for what he did, but the other student is now being represented by the ACLU, a group claiming this incident was based solely on so-called homophobia. It looks to me like two minor-age boys names are all over the national media as they become convenient tools for homosexual activism. There’s no excuse for viciously beating another student, but where do we stop at pushing homosexuality onto our kids?

Like other Religious Right activists, Mission America president Linda Harvey is using the Penn State child abuse scandal to demonize gays and lesbians, floating claims that gay rights advocates want to normalize pedophilia and that people become gay as a result of child abuse. However, the American Psychiatric Association found that “no specific psychosocial or family dynamic cause for homosexuality has been identified, including histories of childhood sexual abuse. Sexual abuse does not appear to be more prevalent in children who grow up to identify as gay, lesbian, or bisexual, than in children who identify as heterosexual.”

Harvey writes in the American Thinker that progressives helped create a culture without boundaries that is now “confused about child-adult sex.”

The public is appalled at the failure to protect these youngsters, and it's far more important than any football legacy. The inaction of adults in authority may have cost a number of young men their innocence and their trust.

What is curious is our culture's mixed messages about early child sex and who the "partner" of that child is. The party line for years to kids in middle school or in "gay" materials pushed on teens has been promotion of early sex while providing either fuzzy or improper guidance about the age of the sex partner. Kids are supposed to be "empowered" now to choose to have sex starting around, oh, age 12. And if it's with someone older, isn't that their business?

Not all people who are involved in homosexuality, nor all progressives, think that this is okay. Problem is, plenty of these age boundary-smashers do populate advocacy groups, schools, influential teachers' unions, and youth counseling. Through serial neglect, obfuscation, and deceit, leftists have given youth a culture that is confused about child-adult sex.

There's even a line of thought among some homosexual advocates that says that young guys need to rethink those first fumblings initiated by the coach, the uncle, the family friend down the street. The boy isn't necessarily a victim, and it wasn't really criminal -- it might have been the boy's first "gay" encounter.

School board members, teachers, and parents are buying the concept of first, the "gay teen" and now, the "gay child." It's clear that the real message from many progressives is, "You're on your own, kid!" When a child begins acting out with age-inappropriate heterosexual behavior, the first suspicion is molestation. When a youth begins calling him or herself "gay" and reveals early sexual experience, why are we not asking that same question?

The on-campus student riot in support of Paterno made me wonder if today's teens and young adults fully understand the harm of child sexual abuse. Many may not realize the criminality of these adult-child interactions, and perhaps it's time for youth education on this subject.

There's never a time when adult-child sexual relationships are anything but horrific. America needs to stop talking out of both sides of its mouth.

Earlier this week, Mission America’s Linda Harvey warned that anti-bullying programs will turn schools into “indoctrination camps” and urged schools to encourage their LGBT students to go through reparative therapy. Today in her column for WorldNetDaily, Harvey again went after bullying-prevention programs and labeled them “sexual-deviance promotion.” She said that the real solution to suicides among LGBT youth is to tell them “that homosexuality is unsafe, unnatural, and no one needs to go there emotionally or physically” and cites Dale O’Leary of the anti-gay group NARTH for saying that sexual abuse causes homosexuality. Harvey writes:

Your sixth-grader, Zack, comes home from school. "Mom, Dad, guess what we talked about today? There are kids all over the country who are trying to kill themselves, just because they were born gay or born in the wrong-sex body!"

Now, if this doesn't make you drop the soup spoon, I don't know what would.

"Yes," he continues, quite agitated, "and I have to be really careful, so it's not my fault!"

If you are a well-informed parent, you will sit your son down and separate fact from fiction as you unburden his manipulated young conscience. This is, of course, unless your son is an actual bully. But 99 times out of a hundred, your child has done nothing more than had the "wrong" thoughts – i.e., that two boys dating is really weird. But this is no longer permissible – in order to eliminate the dreaded "climate of hate."

Consider yourself lucky: At least Zack told you. Many parents never hear about the nonsense laced into their children's latest "anti-bullying" lesson. While we all deeply empathize with any parent who has lost a child this way, our American softheartedness is being massaged for full effect. Deceit and deviance have entered the schoolyard and will bring vastly more tragedy unless we get wise.

All over the country, parents are discovering that "anti-bullying" programs are a carte blanche for sexual-deviance promotion. Kids learn that unless they nod approvingly at homosexuality and gender-bending, they are all complicit in the worst damage that can ever happen to a fellow student.

This is suicide prevention? How about if we tell them the truth, that homosexuality is unsafe, unnatural, and no one needs to go there emotionally or physically? There's a well-traveled road out of homosexuality that our kids deserve to hear. It would be a lifesaver for many.

But adult homosexuals in American education are busy driving this exploitative agenda. The National Education Association's "GLBT Caucus" has led the giant union into every imaginable supporting policy for same-sex "marriage" and "GLBT" expression among students and teachers. This past summer, the NEA representative assembly passed a measure calling for "hate language" to be eliminated from schools because of bullying issues. Given their far-left leanings, do we have any doubt about what this means?

Among recent tragic teen suicides, some were, or were thought to be, involved in homosexuality. But the picture is mostly murky, with activists making unsupported accusations while downplaying any role played by personal struggles, peer conflicts and/or family issues.

Research has shown that teens have a higher risk of self-harm after "coming out," and effeminate boys have a particularly high risk. The right questions are seldom even asked. Researcher Dale O'Leary has written that, "When an adolescent self-identifies as gay or bisexual, health-care professionals should ask, 'Was this child sexually abused?'" O'Leary notes that 61 percent of self-identified gay teens in one major study who attempted suicide had been sexually abused.
